    1. I’d be interested in what you have to do to feel certain you won that contest…
I have defeated the mighty cow/yak!
      Man, those are the days!

    2. Vanquished Doze (by splashing cold water on my face); also Vanquished Dozen (Twelve at one blow! Granted, they were flies, but still…) and Vanquished Dozens (everybody was Kung Fu fighting). I too will be interested to see if there’s an unVanquished solution. I suspect not.

    1. OA – seeing V wouldn’t be next to the I or E, (so no IVE suffix) and reasonably sure the Q word would have to use either the Z or V – it was a fast solve.

  1. VANQUUSHED
DOZEN on the first attempt itself!
LB has been very kind today after taking me on a brain racking search for the elusive POTHERB yesterday!

    1. Agree. Looked to me as if there had to be one definitive word or root. I found VANQUISH right away and after 30 seconds of failing to start a word wit “H”, I added the “ED” and the solution was obvious.

  2. VANQUISHED-DZO (13/2)

Tried logical combos of letters to form a first word that connected to VANQUISH(ED) using only 13 letters. Gave up and was just about to enter -DOZE as figured I’d try DOZ, which wasn’t accepted. I don’t know why I tried DZO but to my surprise it was accepted.

What is a DZO? A hybrid between a cow and a yak (pronounced like JOE with a slight d at the beginning)

  3. OA, though I prefer the TI of VANQUISHED – DOZENS. Certainly better than whatever POTHERB Ezersky was BRAZENLY smoking when he came up with yesterday’s puzzle…

  4. OA Took a while but clicked together quickly after seeing Vanquished, so I figured it was official.

In defense of “potherb”: in the fields of cooking and gardening, it’s not at all unfamiliar. Since I like those activities, not seeing it yesterday–though I got Brazenly–resulted in some extreme eye-rolling.

  5. OA at the moment I was ready to give up. 😁
I couldn’t see it all day. Coming back several times and still seeing quashed. The best pairing I had was Quashed – Denizen. (no VO).

Had Brazenly yesterday and tried to reverse engineer a word ending in B, but potherb. 🙄

  6. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    2 – 19 vanquished / deadzones
    3 – 18 vanquished / diazinon
    4 – 15 vanquished / diazo
    5 – 14 vanquished / doze
    6 – 15 vanquished / dozes
    7 – 15 vanquished / dozed
    8 – 15 vanquished / dozen
    9 – 16 vanquished / dozens
    10 – 13 vanquished / dzo
    11 – 14 vanquished / dzos
    12 – 16 vanquished / disazo

    13 – 19 vanquished / diazinons*
    14 – 17 vanquished / diazoes*
    15 – 16 vanquished / diazos*
    16 – 17 vanquished / dozened*

  7. Hey guys – i was a little occupied with Wundermap yesterday about this time and didn’t get to LB until a little while ago …
mine was VANQUISHED DOZE also, thinking that would be most efficient … i had never heard of DZO so thanks to y’all who had and have now taught me a new word …
Words that i could type in but were useless this time include:
    VANISHED / VANISHES
    DENIZENS
    QUASHED / QUASHES

    Blessings! 😎🐝🇺🇸
