The answers are:
POTHERBBRAZENLY
POTHERB — BRAZENLY
Got BRAZENLY right away and then saw HERB and just guessed at POTHERB. When I was younger, POT and HERB were synonymous. 🙂
Had exactly the same thought process. Just add little bit of “no surely they won’t accept POTHERB? surely they won’t do it so BRAZENLY” thought in between.
OA
Yup
OA as well.
I’m not expecting many 2-word solutions today.
Tight array.
potherb – brazenly
exactly as you described
Went through exactly the same process to get the OA. I didn’t think LB would accept potherb. I am a child of the sixties when pot was more commonly called “weed” instead of an “herb” lol.
I had BRAXENLY but wouldn’t have found POTHERB in a week. I had to settle for a 3-word solution.
HARLOT TRAPEZE EBONY
PHYTOBEZOAR RENABLY
LB actually accepts both words … don’t ask me why …
i don’t know what they mean.
From Wikipedia:
“A phytobezoar is a type of bezoar, or trapped mass in the gastrointestinal system, that consists of components of indigestible plant material, such as fibres, skins and seeds.”
From Wiktionary, “Renably” is an obsolete adverb, that means “to act In a renable manner or fashion.”
“Renable” is an obsolete adjective, that means “to be reasonable or loquacious” … which is interesting because i’ve always thought of “reasonable” and “loquacious” as antonyms, not synonyms.
😎🐝🇺🇸
bezoar was in a Harry Potter book (the bezoar of a goat, specifically), but I knew it previous from having a dog that got at intestinal blockage from eating the inside of a toy.
PHYTOBEZOAR – RYNOL°
°OED
rynol, variant of rindle, n.
A small stream or watercourse; a brook; a runnel; (occasionally) a trickle of liquid. Also: a gutter, a drain.
Good find McBee.
A nearby, close call:
PHYTOBEZOAR—REPOLON°
°OED:
repolon, n. A manoeuvre in which a horse is ridden for a short distance in a straight line, performs a 180-degree turn along a semicircular path, and is…
Thanks Mark
i was amazed at how hard it was to match PHYTOBEZOAR … only 2 letters (NL) are leftover but the only matches i saw were RENABLY, and the REPOLON you mentioned.
You probably noticed all the many simple words like Relent, Rental, Replan, Relearn, etc. that couldn’t be used to match because of their letter sequences.
i was just happy to be done with it early (for me) and not have to come back to it later.
Got PHYTO (had to look up bezoar – good find!), ZEPHYR, ZEBRA, BRAZEN (didn’t even occur to me to add the LY here!), NOTABLY, …Oy vay
Thanks! 😎
OA eventually – wasted way too much time trying to make ZEPHYR work
I got stuck on Zephyr for a while too. Ran out of time today but did come up with a two-word solution–which doesn’t connect: PHYTON-BRAZENLY. So half right. 😀
😎👍
POTHERB – BRAZENLY …
I’m strong to the finish ’cause I eats me spinach.
👍😎
Didn’t expect my answer to be OA. Brazenly was the first word that captured my attention. Saw herb and tried potherb to clear the remaining letters from brazenly and it worked!
Potherb? Seriously?

Yes seems to confirm the theory that we are jumping in and out of alternate realities all the time. Now i live in one where Potherb is a word
A common 17th centuary word used by people who have no idea what vegetables are.
“There’ll be no pudding until you eat your potherbs!”
It’s curious that ZEBRANO is not an accepted word.
Funny, I had HERB BRAZENLY but could not think of the word POTHERB.
Ended up with LOT TRAPEZE ETHNOBOTANY 🙂
That’s a great three word solution!
Thanks. Only one letter extra from a two worder. Learned a lot of new words today. 🙂
Glad I didn’t spend too much time, in fact (since I didn’t see Herb) at first I mispronounced POTHERB, like BOTHER with a B on the end, and thought I never heard of such a word! I got BRAZEN/LY early. Settled for 3w: PHYTOZOA ARENA ABLY. Had hopes for Zebra etc. (4w ZEBRA APATHY YON NOBLY) Brazen Notably lacked P H.
Found brazen early too but definitely wasn’t going to fund potherb. LOB – BRAZEN- NEOPHYTE.
there’s one more 2 word solution today.
Man, you couldn’t prove it by me! Best I could do was Potherb Brazenly. Radical Vegans! And another case of “how can this possibly be the OA?” I got nowhere with Zebra or the lovely Zephyr, or with Bryozoan, Polyzoan or any other Zoan.
Can’t wait to see what the other two-word answer is! No doubt I will kick myself.
Oh, wait, the other 2-worder the previously mentioned PHYTOBEZOAR RENABLY? Not kicking myself for failing to find THAT!
It is:
polyzoa / abthanery
a three word solution: ZEBRA / ANOTHER / RAPTLY
A four worder:
BEZOAR / REPO / ONE / ETHYL
Was never going to get POTHERB. Tried in vain to match NEOPHYTE, PENETRABLY, EPAZOTE, BRYOPHYTE, and even BRAZENLY. Kudo’s to those who brazenly put in POTHERB as a wild guess and even more to those who knew it was a word!
BRAZEN NEOPHYTE
OOPS! LEFT OUT THE L
This was what I settled with, too. What in God’s name is a potherb??? 😤😤
Another puzzle that left me racking my brain for hours. Had BRAZENLY as the first word I saw. Here were all of the options I came up with afterward, before searching for “Words containing Herb” and discovering the existence of the heretofore unknown (to me) POTHERB.

That looks like the clipboard that I use!! 🙂
Nice. Just one I had lying around the office.
We’re going to have to do a lot better than potherb, people.
Another unsatisfying round.
Here is the full list including Scrabble words:
** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **
(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)
1 – 15 potherb / brazenly
2 – 18 phytobezoar / renably
3 – 16 polyzoa / abthanery
4 – 16 polyzoa / abernethy*
LB is providing Lifelong learning… POTHERB, WHATABOUTISM…
I missed yesterday’s, though I got BRAZENLY. Racking my brains, never thought potherb could be one word.. One more addition to the list.
