    POWERBOAT—TRAJECTION°

    ° OED, ʷ Wiktionary

    1. All right!that’s my three and was going to use jawbones but couldn’t verify it , perhaps richies one finger is his thumb👍

      1. POWERBOATER REJECTION, I’m th you, Brian! True JETBOAT but couldn’t match it, and LB wouldn’t accept JETBOATER for some reason….

    1. C’mon, I’ve acquiesced on submitting lists. I thought you were the one to use other dictionaries too. And they’re valid solutions. I was looking forward to seeing your solutions today.

  2. OA. Immediately spotted JAWBONE (which appeared last week), with which I couldn’t easily pair. Also spent time with INJECTION, BACTERIA, RAINBOW, and REINJECTION.

  3. MARK I suspect RICHIE’s point is that your computer generated answers might take away some of the fun that people who use brainpower alone (even with rejection!) get from thinking up their own solutions without help

    1. I don’t get why RICHIE is hating on MARK. His computer generated answers are still useful for people; if they don’t want to refer them, they can simply not scroll all the way down to the comment section.

    2. OK, but my brainpower went into building something. I have a dictionary database that I like to use to crack word games. I don’t understand why people get so upset. LB is just a game, and this is just a web site to post solutions found. What I do should not affect other people’s attempts at finding solutions. There are no rules here that say you can’t use technology.

  4. I’m not upset (Richie might be!) but I think a lot of people use this website because they are pleased with themselves after sometimes spending a LONG time trying to get the solution and so they proudly post what they’ve achieved. Then they see a person submit loads of “solutions” and it feels like that’s p*ssed on their parade! I’m just saying- you did ask why, Mark.
Another thing is you talk about them being valid solutions. Most of them aren’t. My definition of valid is “accepted by the game”. If you don’t get that Congratulations message, it’s not valid. Keep trying!

    1. I appreciate your comments Adrian. On the validity question, if one considers only LB acceptance, then why should it matter if I submit non-LB solutions? Richie always posts non-LB solutions, which I have actually admired. On the question of submitting “loads of solutions”, Richie does that too. I see a double standard here, not saying you personally.

      1. I’m not keen on anyone posting non LB accepted solutions but that’s just my opinion. On my main point about computer generated answers my view is I like to see if I am the first person to post a solution that no one else has thought of. It spoils that fun or sense of achievement if there is a computer generated list

        1. I admit that posting a list may have crossed a line, especially if I haven’t checked them. I will refrain from that moving forward. Another point that hasn’t been mentioned. I get the feeling sometimes that people think I just press the Easy Button and I have all the solutions. I have to take just as much time as everyone to verify the solutions. It’s not instantaneous, especially when checking MW, OED, and Wikt.

          1. “I have to take just as much time as everyone to verify the solutions.” Only speaking for myself here, but I don’t spend too much time verifying my solution. I spend time trying to solve the puzzle. I usually do solve it, but I rarely post here anymore.
Posting a list of computer-generated solutions isn’t exactly a crime against nature, but it’s a bit like the inventor(s) of the 3-D printer contributing to a chatroom where sculptors like to commiserate.
For what it’s worth, I had thought Richie was using ‘help’ too. If R is not, then it would seem that he’s run afoul in a different way. The insults and evident desire to dominate are one thing. More importantly, though, it really kills the conversation when one encounters enormous lists of solutions—especially at the top of the page. Even if R’s answers are all human-generated, I find the conversational potential of this site (arguably, its raison d’etre) to be greatly diminished.

  5. BRAINPOWER — REJECT

Originally found JAWBONE, JAWBATION, JOBATION, REJECT, REJECTION.

I then found BRAIN and then BRAINPOWER and REJECT/REJECTION were right there.

LB didn’t accept JABOTICABA (Brazilian grape).

  6. Powerboater rejection Powerboater reinjection powerboat trajection(OED) l think l us up my brainpower beforehand on spelling bee haha

  7. I’m not going to jump into the argument about lists. Actually I come here because some of you are hilarious in your TI guesses.

I’m curious if LB uses the same wordlist technique as Wordle – I think the dictionary used (for Wordle) is comprised of words that have appeared in the New York Times news stories. Of course, Wordle has only 5 letter words, but the same technique could be applied to create a larger dictionary.

  8. Just a grape here, but Richie gets a pass from me. He served his country and had survived to old age. He can defend himself but he can be as irascible as he likes.and Mark is very smart and pleasant and his additions are welcome too.I hope they both post everything they feel like. Not had. Has

  9. POWERBOAT* TRAJECTION*
    *both in MW

    PREINJECTION* NAWAB*
    *both in MW

And just to submit one accepted by LB
    WATERPOWER REINJECTION NOB

  10. If nothing else BRAINPOWER-REJECT is a very apt combination in the context of the discussion on computer vs human solutions.

Hope we are all enjoying our solving, however we get it done.

  11. Would a compromise be to post the list towards the end of the day (end of the day as defined by the NYT games app)? That way folks have the opportunity to post unique solutions but also loop back and see a comprehensive list?

    1. Emma,
Thank you. Full 2-word solution sets, and 3-word sets, can be found with a simple search online. I think for now I’ll concentrate on finding validated LB solutions, and non-LB solutions. That’s what I really like anyway; to find solutions that exist in OED and MW that LB does not accept.
      Mark

  12. As a newbie I have to admit that as well as being delighted to find this site ,I was a little surprised by the posted lists that appear to be computer generated. I don’t have a problem with it but my theory is that if I can’t get the solution without looking anything up, I can’t get the solution! 🙄

  13. I like looking at the comments ONLY AFTER I have solved with 2 words. I appreciate both Mark and Richie’s answers! If you truly only look after you’ve worked on the puzzle, then who cares what comments get generated? Its all just of interest , if you don’t like thecomments don’t look. It IS just a game!
