  1. Two days in a row I have had to give up. Yesterday I had a whole bunch of words. Today, all I can see is quixotic, which doesn’t fit the puzzle.
I did not have either half of the answer.

    1. Funny, I figured it must be the OA because it took so long for me to find it! Didn’t seem to be much else in the way of solutions, but sometimes this group proves me very wrong.

  2. OA, apparently the sole two-word solution. Not very satisfying. Not even much in the way of unpairable but still cool finds today. Cutey makes another appearance. Quartet, Extract. And there’s Earwax… Yechhh.

  3. This was such a daunting one today. Felt like a one-solution puzzle. Got frustrated after about 20 minutes and thought I’d settle for finding a 3. Then I found a 2 quite quickly, which was nice. Does anyone else find that sometimes when they give up going for a 2, they find a 2 quite quickly? This has happened quite a lot of times to me.

    1. Actually, yes. That’s why I often let it go with 3 words to start with, if nothing else shows up immediately and I need to get to, y’know, real life. I think of it as incubation. If there’s time to come back later, a 2-word solution frequently pops out. Incubation works well, too, with Spelling Bee and Connections.

  4. OA after some time. I was thinking of little potatato croquettes and croquet is the nearest LB will allow. So in truth an empty stomach got me there.

Found myself looking for a word with with W, X and Y more than once. Eventually Taxiway came to the rescue 🙂

  5. When pairs are scarce, I usually look for minimal triplets (14/3) and minimal quadruplets (15/4). Interestingly I did not find any such triplets, which is unusual, but the quads are almost always present.

    15/4s:
    ACQUIT—TWO—OXY—YER
    CAR—REQUIT—TWO—OXY
    CIRQUE—EAT—TWO—OXY
    ERA—ACQUIT—TWO—OXY
    QUE—ETIC—CROW—WAXY
    QUE—EXIT—TWO—ORACY
    QUIT—TWO—OXER—RACY

    1. WAXIER and COQUETRY were the only (nonconnected) words I could find as well. I had RACQUET, and looked forever for an add-on to WAY, but TAXIWAY never occurred to me. Not the most frustrating singular solution I’ve missed out on, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

  6. OA after trying all words I could come up with that had both Q and X in them to no avail, but landed on OA on a whim after not too long so ALIOW and I’ll take the win!
