The answers are:
CROQUETTAXIWAY
The only other 2 word solution is
rocquet / taxiway
OA for me today.
I tried ROCQUET, but it was rejected.
Only rocquet isn’t in the wordlist, so the OA is the only 2 word solution.
ROQUET and RACQUET are accepted, but did not lead to a 2-word solution(at least for me)
ROCQUET is a PSW, so there are two solutions.
got QUARTIC – COWRIE – EXY
kinda frustrating, but today’s LB is hard for me
CIRQUE is in the grid today.
🙂
did not even notice!
OA, but never heard of taxiway…
I was right. It is the OA.
CROQUET – TAXIWAY
Same solution and same sentiment as Cliona. Taxiway 🤔
A taxiway is what aircraft move on between tarmac and runway.
Well I’ll be, DW. Thnx!
Every time we’re on a plane we go on a Taxiway. I flunked at 4 today.
OA and quickly
OA as well, not so quickly.
OA, but took a while.
Two days in a row I have had to give up. Yesterday I had a whole bunch of words. Today, all I can see is quixotic, which doesn’t fit the puzzle.
I did not have either half of the answer.
OA. I felt certain it would be, as it fell into place so quickly.
Same
Funny, I figured it must be the OA because it took so long for me to find it! Didn’t seem to be much else in the way of solutions, but sometimes this group proves me very wrong.
croquet – taxiway
OA, apparently the sole two-word solution. Not very satisfying. Not even much in the way of unpairable but still cool finds today. Cutey makes another appearance. Quartet, Extract. And there’s Earwax… Yechhh.
This was such a daunting one today. Felt like a one-solution puzzle. Got frustrated after about 20 minutes and thought I’d settle for finding a 3. Then I found a 2 quite quickly, which was nice. Does anyone else find that sometimes when they give up going for a 2, they find a 2 quite quickly? This has happened quite a lot of times to me.
Tell us more, Peter…. says the psychoanalyst…
Haha. Good one, Steph.
Actually, yes. That’s why I often let it go with 3 words to start with, if nothing else shows up immediately and I need to get to, y’know, real life. I think of it as incubation. If there’s time to come back later, a 2-word solution frequently pops out. Incubation works well, too, with Spelling Bee and Connections.
Taxiway was also an answer on December 23
Same as OA croquet – taxiway
OA after some time. I was thinking of little potatato croquettes and croquet is the nearest LB will allow. So in truth an empty stomach got me there.
Found myself looking for a word with with W, X and Y more than once. Eventually Taxiway came to the rescue 🙂
OA, eventually.
When pairs are scarce, I usually look for minimal triplets (14/3) and minimal quadruplets (15/4). Interestingly I did not find any such triplets, which is unusual, but the quads are almost always present.
15/4s:
ACQUIT—TWO—OXY—YER
CAR—REQUIT—TWO—OXY
CIRQUE—EAT—TWO—OXY
ERA—ACQUIT—TWO—OXY
QUE—ETIC—CROW—WAXY
QUE—EXIT—TWO—ORACY
QUIT—TWO—OXER—RACY
OA as well as the non-connector, Waxier – Coquetry
WAXIER and COQUETRY were the only (nonconnected) words I could find as well. I had RACQUET, and looked forever for an add-on to WAY, but TAXIWAY never occurred to me. Not the most frustrating singular solution I’ve missed out on, I guess. 🤷♂️
OA after trying all words I could come up with that had both Q and X in them to no avail, but landed on OA on a whim after not too long so ALIOW and I’ll take the win!
👍
croquet/taxiway…first try and fastest ever for some reason
I got croquet / taxiway
