PLAYWRIGHTTUX
OA here
same!
PLAYWRIGHT‐TUX too.
what he wore to the Emmy Awards
oops. I mean Tony Awards.
The Emmy is later, after the TV adaptation.
The Emmy is later, after the TV adaptation. 🙂
Oa. but I wanted auxiliary to work somehow.
I saw it instantly and it was really hard to get off of, but it went absolutely nowhere.
It specifically put me on the WARPATH because of my PLIGHT. Also, LAUGHY, which doesn’t fit my dumb sentence.
Yes, me too!
PLAYWRIGHT / TUX here.
OA again. I suspect this is the only two-word answer in this peculiarly restrictive array. But I’ll be happy, as ever, to be proven wrong, so I’ll check in from time to time to see what the LB mavens bring to the table. At least the OA’s a good one- maximum efficiency and lotsa TI.
I would be very surprised if there is another solution, Bernie. I thought perhaps PLAYWRIGHT – TUPUXUARA might work, but I gather the latter is a proper noun, as it is not a PSW. Still, that would have been one talented flying dinosaur!
OA in near-record time. I agree, Bernie: hard to do better for either TI or efficiency.
OA – is it getting easier or maybe it’s the new colours ( or lack of) ?
I toyed with ‘auxiliary’ for a little while, but then saw OA.
Was about to resign my self to this 4 solve:
TWIG-GRAPH-HALAL-LUXURY
but saw PLAYWRIGHT just before hitting enter on the last word!
20 minutes of frustration followed by 10 seconds of exhilaration and relief!
There’s a joke in there somewhere!
Couldn’t make it in two, warpath -hightail-luxury.
Hightail luxury yawp
OA here too. Saw auxiliary immediately but couldn’t take it anywhere.
Had to walk away from it this morning, to try again in the afternoon. Thought at first that it was time for GRAWLIX to figure into a two-word solution, but it wasn’t meant to be.
No novel solutions from me, then. Just the OA.
The OA was the only solution today
some 3 word solutions were:
auxiliary / yap / playwright
auxiliary / yawp / plight
hightail / luxury / yawp
OA for me as well. I seem to be making a habit of it.
OA. Could only see LUXURY and TUX as potential uses for the X today, but TUX used too few letters to help guide me to the solution. A lot of LIGHT/RIGHT noodling before spotting PLAY, and I was halfway through spelling PLAYWRIGHT when I remembered/realized it would also use the W. Very satisfying to see the leftovers led back to TUX! 😁
Similar situation here before finding oa.
OA. After failing to find any W words to fit with luxury or auxiliary, I approached it by searching for W words first, until I found playwright.
OA
As soon as I got playwright – tux I knew it would be the OA
Playwright / Tux
This is the first time in I don’t know how long that I haven’t seen Mark comment. I sure hope he hasn’t gone the way of Sota21!
Hey DW, I’m here. I was just hoping someone would find something besides the OA today because I could not. I suspected the singular solution straight away.
I guess I like LB better when there’s more possible solutions after all. That way we get to compare TIs, learn new words, etc. 🙂
Exactly, Mark! There’s that balance of time vs interest (not to say obsession).
Settled for a 4 today. Did not know PLAYWRIGHT was spelled like that so I didn’t have much hope. I thought it was spelled PLAYWRITE, as in someone who writes plays.
My thoughts exactly.
