  1. Dolomedes is derived from a Greek word which means wily. It is the genus of large spiders also known as fishing spiders. They use water tension the way other spiders use webs. I first saw one hunting (and became a fan) while hiking this year, so l was delighted by this OA’s TI.

    1. Same, after far too much effort. Had Aquatics but unaccountably missed Shrewd. Sasquatch was not accepted while Chautauqua/s weirdly was.

      1. DITCHWATER – REQUEST as well. A bit dull.
Also, the same path overall: missed pairing Aquatics, plus tried Sasquatch.

        1. Now if we take the position of x,y and z in the alphabet then y-x+1 and z= x + 2. With A,B , C….. being constants the equation reduces to
          Kx2 +K1x +K2 = 0

          Problem solved.

  2. OA after eventually coming to terms with SASQUATCH not being a word. Not that I could find a match for it anyway.

      1. WEIRDS SQUATCH* here for 13/2 efficiency.

Now admittedly Squatch is a little too 21st century for LB but there’s no excuse for failing to accept Sasquatch!

    1. Yep. That’s how it looks on my laptop, my phone. I’m not generally averse to change , but I like this color scheme less.

  3. queridas / switch
    quadrics / sweatshirt
    queridas / swatch
    ditchwaters / statuesque
    ditchwaters / squat
    aquatics / shrewd
    ditchwaters / sequester
    weirds / sasquatch
    queridas / switch
    chautauquas / shrewdie

  4. OA but not quickly. Some of us just have to work harder. The spider story is fascinating. My nephew, however, gave a great performance during last week’s water polo game. He was cunning, calculating, strategic…one might even say shrewd.
