Sides of this Letter Box are:
BPUHRICLAYOM
The answers are:
CHARBROILLUMPY
Mercifully quick today. Found
BIOCHAR RUMPLY (13/2)
Interestingly I found BIOCHAR yesterday too!
Pretty much only found this before:
PHARAOH HUMBLY (I,C)
AMPHORA ABLY (C,U,I)
PHYLIC CURABLY (M,O)
PHYLUM MICROBIC (A)
PHOBIA
LUMPY
BRAIL
MARBLY
Was thinking my near-unbridled fury at being denied “Phylum microbial” due to the placement of the L was going to linger, but found my answer a few minutes later haha.
Same: BIOCHAR–RUMPLY, rather quickly, too. Feel a little silly for not having found the official, though.
improbably culpably pyrophobic but probably chump with only I left over. Why no “harumph”!
Pyrophobic is a cool find. I knew there was something with “yro” and the “ph” around somewhere but I couldn’t find it.
AILUROPHOBIC – CRUMBLY (CRUMPLY) 19/2
Although I’m on Team Cat, I dig Ailurophobic – what a great find, Sota! Hard to imagine anybody else will be coming in with it. I’ll just note that Crumby, sans L, is accepted (although Crumpy is not); also Maya is accepted, so there’s a nice short lead-in.
Your army of cats did spring to mind with that word, Bernie; and, good as it was, it’s great to see it was still open to betterment!
I like the official solution. But with no time to mull today, I leave it as “something unexpected for non tea-drinkers?”: CHAI – IMPROBABLY – YUM
After yesterday’s struggles, it was a relief to get the official answer relatively quickly today!
I’m with you Bernie! I did spend a while with IMPROBABLY and was similarly disappointed not to find YUCH accepted (but not surprised). Despite my mother having an unnatural extreme case of AILUROPHOBIA I had never heard of the diagnosis before 🙂 Happy to add another word to my ever expanding vocabulary.
(I should have posted here originally, as part of the ‘cat-fear’ column)–
AILUROPHOBIC – COLUMBARY
where the pigeons feel safe . . . .
IMPROBABLY – YUCH should have worked. If it’s in the dictionary, it should be acceptable here.
BTW, the puzzle would not accept CRAMPY. In what universe is that not a common word?
I absolutely shared DW’s bewilderment. I have no scooby doo what the story is with that…
Agreed i must have put it in five times thinking i must have mistyped
Improbably, LB says YUCH is not a word.
CRUMP—POLYPHOBIA
15/2
“Fear of all sorts of loud, sudden noises”
I would have to say that my mother has “crump polyphobia”. ☺
coulrophobia/amply……extremely fearful of clowns
Yes! I think I’ll look for more *PHOBIAs later.
🙂
Spent a long time looking for improbably pyrophobic solutions before happening upon Crump Polyphobia.
I only found one more phobia solution:
OCHLOPHOBIA—AUMBRY
Ochlophobia = fear of crowds.
Aumbry = alternate spelling of ambry, a recessed cabinet in the wall of a church.
I am confused how can I have polyphobia and yet not be polyphonic same for biophobia/c
Closest I got to Charbroil was Parboil – got Lumpy but never added to it. PARABOLIC CHURCHY (no M), PARABOLIC CHUMP (no Y, disallowed CHUMPY). Got some 3 word answers: BLIMP PARCH HOURLY, LUMP PHOBIC CURABLY, PARBOIL LURCH HUMBLY.
AILUROPHOBIC – COLUMBARY
where the pigeons feel safe . . . .
colourphobia – amiably
phylum-microbic
Overbought-taxed
Poor Lumpy, though! Those of a certain age may recall he was Wally’s best friend in Leave it to Beaver. And now I’m picturing him martyred on a grill, like St. Lawrence.
briefs – smokestack
