Yeah, OA, after FEIGNS – SHARKNADO was inexplicably deemed unacceptable.
I find that solution acceptable, and will defend it to the death.
I bailed after it wasn’t accepted. You’d think after 6 feature films it would be in the pool. (oh no!)
YES! I was also disappointed that FEIGNS – SHARKNADO was not accepted.
OA, though completely lucked out. FREAKISH felt too efficient to not be part of the OA, so I was just noodling around and tried HANGDOG on a whim. 🤷♂️

The puzzle accepted GRANDIFIES – SHONK, even though neither is a PSW and the latter is a slur. 🤷♂️ Both are in the OED, though, lending some credence to the view that the puzzle uses that as the basis of its bizarre word list.

Dunno what Shonk is either. Looks shonky to me.

This was a difficult puzzle that at first glance looked like it contained enough “joiners” or “modifiers” to make something work.
I always seem to come up 1 letter short though.

OA again, fairly decent TI again, and once again a not-too-difficult solve. But Feigns Sharknado would have been wicked cool. Too bad the OED is such a buncha old FOGIES! (Which I note would also have paired with Sharknado. So unfair!)

Honored to be considered a normal. Or wait, is that what you mean? Or the opposite? This is like one of those riddles where one guy always lies and the other guy always tells the truth, and you need to ask which way to go to find water….
I’m honored to see that the incomparable Alexandra Petri and I are on the same page today – in her WAPOBpiece on the non-expulsion of George Santos, she posits that “he has already been offered a job as one of the two guards in a logic puzzle.”!

Hate it when it’s a 4-word solution day (which usually implies many possible solutions), but there is seemingly only one answer. And it involves a word I’ve never heard before. I eventually got it after trying dozens of compound words
I should stop being surprised that what feels like a despondent, days long smooshing together of letters ends up being the OA.

Could someone tell me what “OA” ans “PSW” mean please? Also FREAKISH-HANGDOG. Somewhat surprised so many don’t know that word.
OA means Official Answer; TI means Thematic Integrity; PSW means Playable Scrabble Word. (I may have Playable wrong because I can never remember exactly what the P stands for, but that’s the concept.)
