CHILDBIRTHHABITUATION
CHILDBIRTH came quickly. I resisted HABITUATION thinking something shorter, better and less esoteric was bound to be found; but alas no such luck and I’ll leave it to my betters.
I was really hoping to work something out with Orbital-Launch but sadly one letter left
I was surprised that UNDIDACTIC CHARBROIL was not acceptable.
Yeah, this was a nasty brute of a puzzle. I explored Childbirth, got to Habituation, hated it, got all hung up on Charbroil, and finally hit on Laudation through random experimentation. Didn’t like that either, but at least it was better than the official answer….
BRUNCH HOAR RID DART TALC
RADICAL LUNCH HARBOR RAT
Found an example of UNDIDACTIC by a British literary critic, so maybe its use is limited to a British vocabulary. Although it is defined in the online Merriam Webster Dictionary.
Pretty unsatisfying puzzle. I think the 3-word orbital-lunch-had feels “cleaner” than the messy 2 word official answer.
NOR-RIBALD-DUTCH 14/3
Cohabitation – Nodular
After becoming habituated to trying to get to 13/2 using a college educated regular-use vocabulary, I couldn’t believe that 21/2 could be acceptable. I’m doing puzzles to keep my mind open and flexible as I age (69 years old). Oh well, lesson learned. I gave up after 2 hours and ran a website solver app, which came up with:
BRONCHITIC — CAUDAL
CHARBROIL — LAUDATION
CHILDBIRTH — HABITUATION
COHABITATION — NODULAR
CONTRADICTION — NONHABITUAL
HABITUATION — NONRADICAL
RADIOCARBON — NONHABITUAL
TRADUCTION — NONHABITUAL
Cohabitation – Nodular
Toughest one yet, IMHO.
I did BRONCHODILATION > NUT.
Only the U left after the first word.
I think this one wins! 🙂
I came up with
ribald, donut, tich 15/3
I think a better solution letter-wise than the official 21/2 solution.
I finally found BRONCHITIC CAUDAL the hard way, so many close ones, especially LUCHADOR (BINT), TROCHAL (UNBID), BRIDAL (UNCOUTH),…
