Sides of this Letter Box are:

The answers are:
FLOURISHHANGUP
FOURS-SPLASHING (14/2)
That was my answer too
I found FLOURS SHAPING, that is a 13/2. Time to go and make some bread.
Good work, Walt! I settled for the inferior Fours – Splashing. Lately the puzzles seem to alternate between too few options one day (like the recent Jeopardize – Exams) and too many the next, like today. Oh, my life is soooo hard….
got FLOURISH-HASPING, my first time solving in 2 words.
A 15/2: FURLOUGHS – SPINAL
FLOURISH – HANGUP
After solving, it messaged, “Congratulations!
You solved within 4 words.
Come back tomorrow for more.”
Why “4 words.”?
The easier puzzles take 4 words or less, medium puzzles take 5 words or less, and hard puzzles take 6 words or less.
I believe the “within x words” indicates the perceived difficulty of the puzzle, as in you solved the puzzle with fewer words than the “average” solver who may have needed four words to use up all 12 letters.
I got FOURS-SPLASHING as well. Still waiting to get an answer that nobody has gotten yet.
I’m feeling quite smug today about flours-shaping because jeopardize-exams the other day just squashed me.
The ads here have been getting increasingly intrusive for me, and I see that Reddit has a (very) little subcommunity for this as well, so I’ve started sharing puzzles and answers there. In case that’s of interest to others: https://www.reddit.com/r/NYTLetterBoxed/
It also has a spoiler tags feature, so you can discuss a puzzle, but leave the answer hidden for people who haven’t completed it yet. Reddit also has ads, but they’re not nearly so obnoxious.
