          1. I’m gonna get a yacht, name it Sasquatch, and then win all the yacht awards and races and whatever… then we’ll see what’s disqualified!!

          2. Then… I’m gonna get 2 more yachts. And I’m gonna name one: Proper Noun, and the other: common usage… and then I’m gonna race them and see who wins!
            You know who’s gonna win?………
            sASQUATCH!! That’s who!

          3. 🤣
FTR, SASQUATCH is a PSW, so it’s fair game. I couldn’t match it with anything, though. OA for me.

      1. Me 12? not very fast,
but today i did get the OA.

        I Wanted to do:
        CATHUD DISQUALIFY
but i don’t think Cathud is a word in any dictionary … but it could be an interesting portmanteau if Catwoman had ever gotten together with that oil guy Paul Newman played in the 60’s … kind of like Brangelina …

        but instead, i settled for:
        DISQUALIFY YACHT
        😎

    1. OA in 15 seconds. Found QUALITY and YACHTS with the D and F left over and figured out instantly where those letters would go.

      1. OA for me fairly quickly. I saw QUALIFY-YACHTS almost immediately, but to include the D also detoured into SQUALID(LY) for a while before noticing DISQUALIFY.

      1. Radioactive Flower

        Hey, PGGIE,

You got it! BREADWINNER, indeed! 🤓😉

        Double thumbs up!!! 👍👍

Always on the lookout for yachts, and there it was again! I’m disappointed with this puzzle because it only took a minute to solve. What am I gonna do for the rest of the day? Aside from checking in from time to time to see if there’s a alternate answer, which I doubt.

      1. Hey Bernie – have you tried SEMANTLE – that should take you through another cup of coffee 🙂

OA for me too. Not immediate, but plenty of coffee left 🙂

          1. I play Wordle as a part of the NYT games, but that one is really hard even at 6 letters. I can’t imagine 7,8,9… 🙂

Thanks for giving me two other ways to get lost in time!!

I had not heard of this game before, but I’ll definitely check it out now that you mentioned it. Thanks for the tip!

  1. OA. Found Disqualify early and desperately wanted to connect to the D. Couldn’t even find a three worder.

    Gave in to the trend.

  2. OA but took me a long time. Found QUALIFY almost immediately but didn’t think of DISQUALIFY for ages.
Spent a long time on LIQUIFY, LIQUIDITY, QUITCH, CATFISH, FLYFISH, AQUATIC, DISHFUL/S, CITYFUL/S and CATCHFLY.

  3. DISQUALIFY—YACHT
    DISTICHAL°—LIQUIFY

    °OED:
distichal, adj. Prosody. Pertaining to, or of the form of, a distich; consisting of two lines of verse.

  4. If you’ll allow ‘YACHTFUL’ or maybe ‘YACHTSFUL,’ which both seem like reasonable constructions, then either will connect to LIQUIDS (or without the ‘S’ in the second case) for a solve. There’s also some strong TI there.

  5. Found Disqualify quickly, then couldn’t link to anything. How embarrasing, given the number of times Yacht has been hailed on this board as a useful word! 😳

  6. OA after a good deal of meandering. QUALITY, LIQUIDITY, and LIQUIFY before seeing DISQUALIFY, and a fair amount more trying to figure out how the heck to work T-H-C into a word that ends with D. 🤔

  7. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    1 – 15 disqualify / yacht
    2 – 16 disqualify / yachts

    3 – 16 distichal* / liquify
