The answers are:
PATHETICCRINKLY
OA. I think that’s a bit unkind, but yes.
OA too.
Trickle Epiphany
My husband got that as well!
Also got TRICKLE-EPIPHANY, in just a few minutes.
TI: slowly dawning realization
Trickle
Epiphany
another PATHETIC-CRINKLY. when I get lazy about ironing.
OA – the child dug through Grandma’s purse to find a forgotten old dollar for the offering, and an even older butterscotch candy to be unwrapped during the next quiet prayer.
😂 and OA for me today—and yesterday
OA for me too.
Close, TELEPATHIC CRINKLY
I got hepatic and crinkly
Same here.
Didn’t even see pathetic.
Same here after getting very close with words others paired. Electricity, Electrical, Alkalinity. (Btw Alkaline paired with Electricity left PH. What’s that called Mark… themed misses?
Also bet there are pairings with: Airplane, Pliancy, Cephalic,
Protesting the exclusion of “trickplay” “tripleplay” “Epitaphial”

PURPLEFUL?
Hey, our first-born STEPHIE,
WRONG! 😵💫🥴
CLUE 2: ice cream flavor.
Hi RrrF
-UB-LE-U- is not very good for your teeth.
Hey, Sir LWMMM,
YES, absolutely. 👍👍
Hahaha 😁
Unless it’s sugar free.
😉
4 out of 5 dentists prefer the sugar-free version for those who partake.
as a dentist, i have to agree with this 🦷 ‼️
Lots of “B”s 🐝 in this puzzle! to make it buzz 💤 all over your face when it pops!
😎
Hahaha
Bubblegum
Hey, Mr. JOHNNY,
BUBBLEGUM, indeed! Good job!!! 🤓👍

CLUE: yum yum 😋
I’m not seeing this one clearly yet, but I have two whimsical solutions, one with D as the linker and the other with K.
👍
I found whimsical today – close to OA – PHYLACTIC CRINK (the prevention of [joints, say] emitting a thin abrupt metallic or crackling sound!)
Ketchup Prismed, but it’s doing my head in!
Hey, FRANZzEE2,
I’m happy you found a solution. You got the half of the OA. 👍😉
☢️🌹
Halfway there is progress 🙂
I like ketchup and I like prisms but only separately and never together…
😉😎
DRUMSTICK – KETCHUP
Why is the site sending my posts to limbo?
Hey, THIS,
That is the OA! YAY!!! 🥳🎉
DRUMSTICK – KETCHUP, indeed! 😎
Double thumbs up! 👍👍
☢️🌹
or UPCHUCKED—DRUMSTICK 😊
This site acts up from time to time.
The two error messages I see occasionally are:
1) “Your comment is awaiting moderation…”
2) “You already said that, …, Duplicate comment..”
Yes, Mark. It’s the second one that I’ve been getting several times in the last week or so.
TRICKLE EPIPHANY
Same
Me too
Same!
Ditto. Took a while to find it, but when I did I liked it so much I stopped looking. It’s either a neat oxymoron – that’s not how they work, right? – or the moment you realize you may have a prostate problem.
The lesson I just learned was to never take a sip of coffee before reading one of Bernie’s posts!
Danced around with PRINCIPALITY, ETHICALITY, and NEPHRITIC (yes, I see the connection as well) before settling onto the OA.
😉
Or maybe the moment Reagan had an economic theory
Good one! Got the [TR/PR/NiCKEL] and got hung up on ANALYTIC[AL] and NAPHTHALENE, ETHICAL, etc
And me.
Got this one too later
It took me about 45 minutes to get
APATHETIC-CRINKLY
Now I can have a relaxing Saturday.
TRIPHENYL°—LACK 13/2
TELEPATHIC—CRINKLY Haggis, the Witch, in Pumpkinhead.
TRIPITAKA°—ACENAPHTHYLENE° 23/2
°OED:
triphenyl-, comb. form. A prefix denoting that three phenyl groups, C₆H₅, are substituted for three hydrogen atoms in the substance designated by the rest of the name; e.g…
Tripitaka, n. Usually with the. The sacred canon of (Theravada) Buddhism, originally written in the Pali language; a book containing these texts.
acenaphthylene, n. A crystalline aromatic hydrocarbon found in coal tar and tobacco smoke. Cf. acenaphthene, n.
I bent the rules a little with the proper name Tripitaka. I’m starting to like the OED though. More solutions. 🙂 I’m working on a macro that pulls these definitions from that section in the HTML. 🤓 Onwards and upwards, LBers!
LB accepts ACENAPHTHYLENE but I can’t find any connectors 🙁
You’re right Bill. I should have only put the symbol on:
TRIPITAKA°—ACENAPHTHYLENE 23/2
I can find no other partners either.
👍
I did find NAPHTHALIC — CRICKETY so that will have to suffice chemical-wise.
I lied.
PHENYLACETIC — CRINKLY
I got PHENYLACETIC – CRICK
Hey Mark!
i posted my “answers” before seeing your post … yours are definitely not boring either …
so, is a combination form a word or a prefix?
😎
You got me! Everyday almost there’s a new twist and turn it seems, but maybe our understanding is improving, slowly.
See my comment to yours below too. I tried to do a superscript but I screwed it up.
Thanks Mark!
i think we are too …
slowly …
😎
HEPATIC-CRINKLY
telepathic – crinkly
Same. Not as efficient as the OA but once I found TELEPATHIC I couldn’t get off it.
Another TELEPATHIC-CRINKLY. Similar destination to OA but via the long route.
I was going to quit if I hopped on here and didn’t have a unique solution today: RHINENCEPHALIC – CRICKETY. Actually, ENCEPHALIC – CRICKETY does the job, but it’s not as much fun.
Excellent!
I didn’t see CRICKETY
Good ones DW!
Here’s a related one, but it’s a stretch at best:
RHINENCEPHALA°—ALKALINITY
RHINENCEPHALA is evidently the plural of Rhinencephalon, an OEDer.
☕
TELEPATHIC — CRINKLY
ENCEPHALITIC — CRINKLY
TELENCEPHALIC — CRINKLY
Played around with CALIPHATE, TRINKETRY, and couldn’t mate RHINENCEPHALIC
PRINKLE – ETHICALITY
I didn’t even know prinkle was a word, or that you could do it ethically.
🙂
Me too.
Prickle – Ethicality lacked the N. So I tried PRINKLE and the Scots came through.
My next step would have been Ethnicality, but I knew the Scots couldn’t bail me out on that one.
Hey Tom! i just saw your entry …
it is definitely Not boring! 👍
😎
Thanks! I usually play this game after breakfast on the East coast of the US and rarely find a solution that hasn’t already been posted.
I guess I should wake up earlier!
TRICKLE – EPIPHANY
first time solving in two words i was so excited!!!
Congratulations!! 😊
Congratulations! And same answer I got. I’m slowly getting better at LB , but often can’t get it in two.
Philatelic crinkly
Old stamp at the bottom of the drawer?
TELEPATHIC CRINKLY
OA quite quickly.
Looks like we still need that spit-take emoji. 😀
Okay, so today i got bored with LB. I didn’t get the OA, and now that i’ve seen it, it’s boring.
Words i found include:
TRINKET (LB ✅) but no match
PRICKLY (LB ✅) but no match
(i wanted to see if LB would take “pricklyheat” but the EA stops that)
TRIPLICITY (LB ✅) no match
Others:
TRIPHENYL° (LB👎) can match
TRIPHYLINE^(LB👎)can match
TRYPHENA (LB👎) can match
TRIPHENYL° is listed in the OED as a “combining form” – i don’t think that means prefix (or suffix), but maybe that’s why LB rejected it … Triphenyl is in M-W and many other dictionaries.
TRIPHYLINE^ i didn’t see in OED but did find in M-W, so that’s why i used the ^ … would like to know how to superscript the M-W.
TRYPHENA – okay, this one i didn’t see in Oxford or Webster’s dictionaries, but in some name lists. It is an ancient Greek name, and has a connotation of softness or delicacy … i like that. 😎
https://www.behindthename.com/name/tryphena
Various matches to these three LB👎 words could include:
PACKET
PICKET
ALKALIC
LACK
and even ALICK! (LB ✅)
But i don’t understand why LB rejects words that are in OED and/or M-W.
Hey McBee, thanks for that name site link. Looks informative.
I think it was CR (apologies if I’m incorrect) that pointed out that Sam Ezersky stated, on the X platform, that LB pulls from OED. If words are deemed offensive, they’re excluded. Perhaps the exclusions extend to technical terms too, like the chemical names, and the like.
Here’s some superscripted characters that are usable, in clear text:
¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹⁰⁻⁺. Unless the superscripted M and W can be found somewhere in Unicode, I believe it would take code to produce them. The HTML approach would be: “word”MW. That would produce a superscripted MW over the “word”. This site does not support that however. 🙁 There are other methods used in formatting mathematical equations (LaTex).

Meant as a reply to MCBEE JUNE 22, 2024 AT 4:36 PM.
I hate when that happens and I cannot undo it. 😠
That HTML code did not show up correctly above. Sorry. Maybe this site is trying to interpret it. Only the Admins could answer that.
Almost OA: APATHETIC CRINKLY
A slow TRICKLE finally leading to an EPIPHANY!
Anaphylactic crinkle
He just had to that Ruffle chip, didn’t he?
Telepathic – Crinkly
Encaphalitic – crinkly ?!
PLATYCEPHALIC – CRINK
Clearly I made this way more complex than need be. 😆
Incidentally, these are basically opposites 😂
I don’t see another of my solutions here (although the wonkiness of the site makes it hard to say for sure), so:
Prickle Ethnicity, another of our societal ills.
Sorry, please ignore previous. No A. It’s late.
