    1. Started with BEFRIEND and then shifted to UNFRIEND and in the process, my eyes saw DRAWBRIDGE and what do you know? The solution was quickly FOUND.

      1. FUNBOARD — DRAWBRIDGE works, so you got two solves. The lack of the ING suffix today really limits the connections (that I can see anyway).

    1. Same. I saw BRIDGE right away and then saw DRAW after focusing on the W, which I thought would be hard to place, and that was that.

    2. As did I, though with watching the Olympics was a little distracted so it took a bit longer, though probably only 15 minutes of actual thinking about the puzzle.

  1. FOUND — DRAWBRIDGE

I looked at BREADBOARD but it wasn’t very efficient. Once I got DRAWBRIDGE, FOUND came quite rapidly from the remaining letters.

  2. I found NEWFOUND first and went with that: NEWFOUND – DRAWBRIDGE. I didn’t bother to check that NEW was superfluous.

  3. Bernie Horowitz

Found OA Found Drawbridge quickly enough. I foresee a handful of alternative lead-ins to Drawbridge but no solutions without it.

  4. Off topic:

Does anybody here play the NYT Strands game? For 3 of the last 4 days no theme has been stated. This is a bit aggravating. Is everyone else having this or am I just the lucky one?

If it matters, I always play on my phone.

    1. I don’t know what may be happening to your device but the theme is always there. Today was “That’s a stretch!”, yesterday was “Book it”, the day before was “Daily Delivery” and the day before that was “Bedtime Story”.

      1. Thanks. The only theme that showed for me was Daily Delivery.
I managed to solve them all but it took a lot longer and with a bunch of words not related to the invisible theme.

Tomorrow I will try a fresh search for the puzzles instead of using bookmarked pages.

        1. The “themes” are always there, but I am spoiled by Radioactive Flower’s hints for his LBs!! The ones in Strands are sometimes not obvious to me so I usually find a few words for clues, and then it dawns on me what they mean! 🙂

          1. For example, today’s was all about yoga positions or whatever and I wasn’t familiar with a single one. That does add to the challenge of course, so it’s all good.

  5. OA. I knew it had to be.
TI: The trolls got the memo for the meetup

After messing with BEFRIEND and REBOUND for a while, I found REFOUND. Then DRAWBRIDGE. Then I dropped the RE.

  6. OA here after finding BRIDGE early on. Took a bit to put DRAW in front as I went on to the BEFRIEND ing route 🙂

Maybe Mark will have some other options but this looks pretty constrained today.

    1. Hi Susan. I’m not seeing much else today unfortunately. Especially after a day like yesterday. I’ll take a closer look later Thanks. 🙂

  7. Ugh, I should’ve got this one (yesterday’s solved in 10 minutes). I found BRIDGE and FOUND right away, later DRAW and DRAWN. Settled for 3w: NEWFOUND DRAG GIB.

  8. OA, at last. Struggled for a while with FIREBOARD (surprised Wireboard not a word). Then used FIREGUARD which led me somehow to DRAWBRIDGE and then found FOUND.

  9. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    1 – 15 found / drawbridge
    2 – 18 funboard / drawbridge
    3 – 17 fungoid / drawbridge
    4 – 18 newfound / drawbridge
    5 – 17 refound / drawbridge

    6 – 16 unfond* / drawbridge
    7 – 17 unfound* / drawbridge

  10. OA as well. Earlier today tried DRAWN, BRAWN, BADGER, and BEFRIEND. Came back this evening and quickly saw BRIDGE, then got the answer almost immediately.
