    1. OA. found Workforce early on and thought it looked very promising, but had to return a few times before finding Disavow.

      1. Similar. Started with Roadwork. Moved to Workforce. Wasn’t seeing it so moved to Radiowaves. When I disavowed Radiowaves and returned to Workforce, I found the OA.

        1. OA
Also similar, found Radiowaves, Forsakes, Advisories early and was sure Radiowaves had to be one answer.

Toiled with it to no avail, but found Crowds, Avoids, Avarice, Advice before finding Workforce(s).

Found Workforce – Evasive ( D left), then Workforces – Savior ( D left) before finding Disavow.

          1. I tried relentlessly with radiowaves and gave up when I couldn’t make it work because I was too annoyed 😂

    2. Same. Doesn’t feel like there are many 2-word options today. Found WORKFORCE(S) right away and played with SAVIOR (missing the D) and compound words with CROW- VIEW- WEAVE- WAVE- AVOW- Definitely warranted a second cup of coffee today!

  1. OA also but different path than you guys …
first word i saw was VISOR and then ADVISORS and then i piddled with that for awhile – no matches – best i could get was 4 words:
ADVISORS SCARF FEW WAKES which i guess could be funeral home directors do Not eat up all the refreshments?
Anyway, AWAKE didn’t get up to anything and today’s puzzle wouldn’t allow any form of WOKE. Eventually tried WEAKFORCES which is not a word but of course WORKFORCES is and then back solved to find something that has an ADIV and ends with W and that’s DISAVOW, which let me drop the S from the second word.
Lots of TI for the OA.

  2. DISAVOW — WORKFORCE

I had found ADVISORIES that used all the letters along with WORKFORCE but they didn’t connect. That’s when I saw DISAVOW.

  3. The very clunky Disavow Workforce but only after trying to put Avid and Workforce together.

Industrial relations British Leyland style circa 1970!

  4. Bernie Horowitz

Another for OA Disavow Workforce. Call the NLRB! The fact that no one’s come up with an alternative after this amount of time confirms my first impression, that it’s a one-off.

  5. Wow, close but no cigar, missed Dis- as a prefix, got Avow, and compound words Casework, Racecar/s, then Workforce/s. Three 3w answers: DIVAS SAW WORKFORCE, or Workforces Sad Dive or Diva.

  6. Is there any solution other than the OA? I got it after a bit. Workforce was pretty easy to find. Disavow came with some tinkering.

TI: When politicians get on the wrong side of labor unions

  7. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    1 – 16 disavow / workforce
    2 – 17 disavow / workforces

    3 – 17 dovekies / scarfwise*
    4 – 15 vodkas / scarfwise*

  8. Found DOVEKIES – (but not scarfwise)
I dug out my DOVEKIE poem from last fall, to share:

    20 September 2023
    DOVEKIE, ENLIGHTENED

    To tiny auks, of Maritimes
And further north’s more frigid climes,
    As equinox unveils the sun,
    That overgilds each shadow’s run:

Your raucous loud and chattering trill
Let’s know you are prolific still,
    Enlightened on a glacial ledge
That flows with Arctic’s summer edge.

    Revoke our deviled drilling life,
    Revile our villain-induced strife.
    Diligent, doglike, without sin
    Devoted to your dovekie kin;

Silent at sea, though deign to sing,
Inveigh us with your whirring wing.
    Though kilo-shy, demand your range;
    Deliver parables of change.

    1. I remember this one! That’s fun. Thank you for sharing it again.

I got the OA in all the usual, mentioned ways, but my jokes were all pretty dark; so it was really nice to have a Jill Poem to lift my spirits.
