          1. Pucan – Nightgowns
Finally! Kept trying combinations of letters til I found Pucan. Nightgowns had to have a match.

          1. I also found and played with… Townships, Snowcat, Pitchout, Shotgun

Close with Captains – Shogun (no W)

            Paintgun, Chinatown not accepted

    1. Ah, well done, Irim! Late to this site because I had a math exam today, and I’m glad to see my solution is unique so far! UTOPIANS – SCHWAG here – these were the first two words I spotted in the grid so it was luckily a fast solve for me.

I’m glad I was able to put my recent knowledge to good use, SCHWAG is a word I recently discovered while playing around with the letters the day the OA contained BUSHWHACKING. I love learning new words!

      15/17, 42/48
      Current streak: 7

      1. Oh that’s a fantastic, unusual solution – how was the exam?

Oh man, I haven’t heard ‘schwag’ in decades, since I moved from the US to the UK; it would never have struck me now, I think.

Learning new words is the absolute best.

Congratulations on your solve and hope the exam results are all you hope for.

  1. Can’t believe I toyed around with both NIGHTCAPS and SOUTHPAW, but didn’t spend much time on this one and missed the connection. Looked at a word-check site to see if I was missing anything obvious, which led me to CHINWAGS SPOUT, before I checked here and saw the OA, which made me doubt my mental faculties. I’m taking the win with an asterisk…

    1. Hon, I just did the hard pips for almost *30 minutes* having found the right combination almost at the beginning…only to realise all I had to do was flip one domino to get it right. Not just you!

Gotta be that new moon eclipse.

      1. Don’t worry, that happens to the best of us! I’m ashamed to admit that I accidentally calculated 2+8 as 6 in one of the questions on our math exam today; the entire problem went downhill from there. The exam went well overall though – I’m expecting a 97. 🙂

    1. Same here (though it’s NIGHTCAPS with an S). I tried UNWON first which seemed like a reasonable word, but was not accepted.

  2. I seemed to only come up with capitalized words today. SAGINAW, GOWANIS, CHINATOWN.

    Settled for GUNWHIP* PHOTOSCAN
*word used in lots of Westerns and in several criminal court documents, but no dictionary I can find.
