Official solution again today. Back to the drawing board.
I was so excited too. I thought all those years of working with air nailers had finally paid off when this one instantly jumped off the page at me…..really took the wind out of my sails when it was the official. For just one fleeting moment I thought I was pretty cool. I guess all that work was just for the glory.
Deep breaths, Bobby, deep breaths! At the end of the day, it’s ALL just for the glory…
Thus I find joy in my 15/2 answer MOUNTAINY – YCLEPT, no matter how inferior to the official solution. I’ve been waiting a long time for YCLEPT to show up and I wasn’t going to let a few extra letters deter me! Next on the list (having checked off WOMBAT some weeks back and now YCLEPT), is QUINCUNX. Someday my prince will come!
Several times I have built cupolas as amenities on projects so hats off to Walt, doubly so because I had a grampa and I have a son yclept Walter. My prince will charge in one day on a steed yclept 12/1 and together we will be DISEMBARKING to that big letter boxed game in the sky. Until that fateful day I will sustain myself on a steady diet of Bernies wisdom.
Oh dear me, no! Too much responsibility! The only thing keeping me off the self-improvement lecture circuit….
Mountainy yclept
Mountains yclept
PLAYMAT TUNIC CLOP PEN
LEAP PAUCITY YON NOMA
EYELINE ENEMA AUCTION NOPE
MAYPOLE
ELOCUTION
UNPOLITIC – COPAYMENT
Yeah, I had the official answer too, though I can’t say that PNEUMATIC jumped out at me. Even then it took another minute to figure out that C + LOY made CLOY.
CLAYMATION – NEPTUNIUM
Apparently, Neptune is not a word lol. but Neptunium is. any explanations?
Planet names are proper nouns, so they are not in the list. Neptunium as an element is a common noun that isn’t very common… , maybe it’s something that every quantum mechanic has in the toolbox (?)
COPAYMENT-TUILE
14/2 sigh…
I had CUPOLA AMENITY, that one is 13/2.
Attaboy, Walt S.
Not bad for today, my first two word solution was the official one, but at least I got one more; plus some three word solutions thrown in just for fun.
PNEUMATIC – CLOY, 13/2
COPAYMENT – TUILE, 14/2
COPAYMENT – TILE – EMU, 16/3
MAYPOLE – ENTICE – EMU, 16/3
ILEUM – MAYPOLE – ENTICE, 18/3
I also had CUPOLA AMENITY for a 13/2
Found pneumatic and cloy for the official answer. There were so many great words, but couldn’t make them work.
MAYPOLE ELOCUTION. Feeling good about that. I will have to look up yclept. New to me. Congrats to all with solutions today.
pneumatic – cloy:
for some reason I saw this one right away.
