      1. OA. I was just about to give up when the mass of letters all of a sudden coalesced into something abstract and beautiful.

  1. YUK-KALEIDOSCOPE
    KALEIDOSCOPES-SLUICY*
*SLUICY good in OED, Merriam-Webster, Collins, Scrabble US (TWL) but not LB

      1. *CLOUDLIKE-EPISCOPACY
*CLOUDLIKE good in OED, Merriam-Webster, Collins, Wiktionary, Scrabble US (TWL) but not LB

        1. Nice! LB does not like “like”, usually.
          CLOUDSCAPES—SKIEY^
^Merriam-Webster: skiey, variant of skyey: of or resembling the sky : ethereal.

  2. Radioactive Flower

I didn’t expect K to be the connector. I was caught off guard. Just like KRYPTONITE as the K connector. I failed, being nowhere near the OA.

        1. Me four! Soulie is a relatively new word haven’t first been used in the 1970’s meaning a person who is “soulful” or has a strong sense of soul.

          1. Thanks for the explanation. Also found daypacks – soulie, was more than surprised that it was really a word and didn’t find an explanation in my dictionary but hadn‘t checked further yet.

  3. KALEIDOSCOPES — SAUCY

Found SAUCY and SCOPE, but I spent almost an hour until I got KALEIDOSCOPE (I misspelled it initially)

  4. Got stuck today. Could not get past
    EPISODICAL LUCK KEY

    SOCKEYE EPIDU(R)AL

    Gonna keep trying.

Surprised ODALISK accepted but not ODALISKS

    1. I did find one variation. KALEIDOSCOPY* YUK (perhaps already posted). Curiously this word is not dictionary friendly but it shows up in published books often (per GoogleBooks data) including one of my favorite books “MIGRAINE” by the late, great Oliver Sacks.

  5. Today’s puzzle was one letter short of my Polish maiden name, so I had my grandmother’s cooking on my mind…
POLSKA* KIEL(B)ASA, PIE(R)OSKI, KAPUSTA… Of course, none of the words worked except to make me hungry.

    Also OA

  6. Kaleidoscopes saucy, and it only took a couple of HOURS to find it. Was just going to go with Yuke episodically until kaleidoscope miraculously Episodical

    1. Some words tried. Acidosis ape like playscape epicycle padlocks disloyaladipose silicosis laypeople cloudscapes episcopal episodical yikes
