    1. Well played for even trying it out, Jill! That word list is such a mess, it’s a toss-up what words are or aren’t allowed to stand…

        1. Oh, great! I was hoping you were joking, but I had a look for myself and it is, actually, NOT accepted! Well, THINKFUL is so we’re all good -once in, one out…

    2. I ultimately went with the official answer, never expecting it to BE the official answer. I originally found Backlot Thinkful, but missed Bobcat even though I have a bobtail cat named Bob, aka Bobcat and sometimes Goldthwait…
Come to think of it, Bobtail is in the mix here too! Other words that didn’t pan out: Backlift, Flinch, Finch, Outflank, Hibachi, Bichon, Tailfin, Talkback, Tankful, Catholic, Bunko.

      1. You’re a hero too, to have considered THINKFUL, Bernie! I briefly explored OUTFLANK & TANKFUL -after submitting the solution- in search of a potential 13/2, but was unable to pair either of them.

    3. I had the same reaction to my answer, which was CATBOAT – THINKFUL. I somehow missed BOBCAT so I kept trying different kinds of boat (it didn’t accept, for example, “CUTBOAT” or “FLACKBOAT”, etc).

Crazy that both CATBOAT and THINKFUL are acceptable. Meanwhile, today’s had a quite large number of obscene words (including compound words), none of which of course were accepted. (Yes, I did them out; shame on me.)

    4. More efficient than my BACKLOT – THINKFUL. I only tried THINKFUL on a lark; I had no idea it would be accepted. As far as I can tell, it isn’t even really a word.

    5. BOBCAT – THINKFUL for me too. Really only tried it out of desperation since thankful was blocked. I was happy to find bobcat after though!

    1. CATBOAT-THINKFUL for me today too, both surprises.
I don’t usually post here if someone else has already found the same words. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your comments every day! I started playing Letter Boxed when Wordle moved to the NYT, but didn’t realize there was always a two-word solution until the day I saw LEXICOGRAPHY. Then I found this site and am glad to hear from others similarly afflicted with trying to find those two words, any two words . . . 😉

      1. I’ve been playing for a year or so now. I’ve found three single-word solutions in that time, but only one was accepted in the game. Overdogmatical, metropolitancy, and lexicography. Another twist is to shoot for the minimum number of letters for any given number of words. For 4 words that’s 15, for 3 words that’s 14, for 2 it’s 13, and of course for 1 it’s 12. I’ve been intrigued lately with this pattern of four words, totaling 15 letters, but I have yet to find it:
        A-B-C-D
        D-A-B-C
        C-D-A-B
        B-C-D-A

  1. Official here, fairly quickly. I *did* consider Thinkful but never actually tried it, deciding “Nawww. . .”

You’re right, Jill: definitely sounds Orwellian–a bit like Truthy.

    1. That’s a good one!
I had Fanciful, Outback, Thinkful?, Outflank, Bobolink, Koala but ultimately gave up, as I was wasting too much time today!

        1. DW, thanks for this! There are some great bird photographers out there, but this David Welch is a cut above. I just looked through the whole Flicker portfolio.

  2. Thinkful ? Really? Even as I type ‘thinkful’ into this forum I get the little red dots below it indicating it is not a word. But as always I am glad to see accepted solutions. Helps us all get on with our day. I got the official today.

  3. Official here as well after trying to match OUTFLANK and HIBACHI somehow, but THINKFUL – really? Miriam Webster, Oxford, Collins all disagree on that one 🙂
