  1. Official answer here. I’ll be interested to see if anyone brings a two-worder that doesn’t involve Anthropology.
Sota’s OUMA is nice (I’d heard it used but didn’t know how it was spelled). Howard’s NUMP is not, unless there’s meaning beyond the Urban Dictionary’s. With all the perfectly good words the puzzle infuriatingly rejects, it’s hard to believe that’s accepted….

    1. I note other 4-letter lead-ins to Anthropology: MURA, MUTA, MUGA, RUMA, and LUMA. And that leads me to a two-word answer not involving Anthropology, as requested by me: LUMA ANTHROPOPHAGY!

      1. So… If one is a cannibal in Armenia and one wishes to dine on a tasty Anthropologist (YUM!), does one have to pay a LUMA before engaging in ANTHROPOPHAGY? Whom does one pay? PLOUGHMAN? NOTARY?

    2. My sister, who gets involved on & off, actually came up with PLOUGHMAN – NOTARY & is feeling cock-a-hoop on the International Day of Smugness!

        1. My previous reply (2:09) was for Sota, in re the International Day of Smugness. It IS hard to tell who’s saying what to whom here.

          1. I just hope those who designed this website are still keeping across its content. They WERE there once, when you, Bernie, turned to them to help send some troll back under their bridge. So, it’s a matter of whether they’ve gradually lost interest in this particular discourse altogether. If not, they might show up again and take the appropriate steps to make the setup a little more user-friendly.
Meanwhile, what would otherwise be a wonderful development (entries & participants growing in numbers), will be coming at the unnecessary cost of increasing confusion & misunderstanding.

  2. After getting locked into PHYTOLOGY for a time, I settled on the official solution–although it has a ‘scientific cannibal’ ring to it.

  3. As quick official today for me, which made me feel unclean, being a political scientist.

BTW, Where is Jill? I’m going into poetry withdrawal. I hope she wasn’t scared off by my proposal of marriage on the 16th.
