  1. I’m I the only one compulsive enough to be keeping a list of 8 or, mostly, 9-single-use-letter words (such as NIGHTMARE or BLUEPRINT) that might come in handy going forward?

I don’t keep a formal list, but I do have a revolving roster in my head of words I hope to find someday. Burlap, Lozenge, Calumny, Axolotl, so many… And every so often one does show up!

Official 14/2 answer here. Meh, although Clump is nice. I see Sota21 already has it beat, and I’ll be Interested to see what else this crowd’s inventive minds can come up with. This array looks promising. But the official solution did at least present itself quickly, saving time to enjoy another spectacular day here in Maine. Man, have we lucked out so far this summer! My heart goes out to the other Portland, which I see continues to swelter…

Maine’s huge geographically, but with a small population, all crowded into the southern third of the state. So luckily there’ll be plenty of room up north for the climate refugees no doubt coming our way in the coming decades. Glad I won’t be alive to see it…
