  1. After being hung up on QUANTITIVE, ADAPTIVE etc. for ages, finally hit on DAVENPORT, and cackled as I saw QUID, an amount I spend a lot.

So, OA after 45 minutes. Can’t wait for Kanishk and RF, and happy Saturday! Off to class…

    1. Radioactive Flower

Failed today! Took too long to give up coz I found so many good words to no avail.

Well done Miss Irim. Fingers crossed for Kanishk-boy.

      1. I think I got really lucky today – solved it in under five minutes. Played with QUANTITIVE like you, Irim, and also EQUATOR, ANTIQUER, etc.

Lots of good words today – and for some reason PANDORA came to mind, and since that wasn’t possible, I typed in PANDORE as a guess and was astonished to see that it was accepted.

So, I present to you my elusive two-word solve: PANDORE – EQUATIVE. No idea what it means, but I’m just grateful to get a solution, wouldn’t have spotted DAVENPORT in a million years as I’ve never heard of it before.

So congrats, Irim, and condolences, RF – better luck next time! May the trio triumph tomorrow!

        1. Hey, lovelies, davenport is a sofa, named after a manufacturing company in Massachussetts!

PANDORE is both a stringed instrument and a marauding soldier. Go figure.

Congratulations, Kanishk, and commiserations, RF – here’s to a triumphant triumvirate tomorrow xx

  3. PANDORE EQUATIVE also

    Plus TORNADO OVEREQUIP*
*Dictionary of Electronics, Computing and Telecommunications. 2012

    Overequipped is in OED.

  4. Pandora equative doesn’t feel like I’m going to find anything that sounds like an OA so that’s it for today, now to see what everyone found

  5. Catherine Gardiner

    Quid & Davenport

Because of yard work and restocking my bird feeders, I started a bit late. Davenport was an easy find because it is the name of the elementary school I attended and where my grandson presently attends.

  6. Got the OA after seeing DAVENPORT on a word-check site, and QUID was right there. Before that I had TORNADO OVEREQUIP, which is accepted by at least one source, so I’ll take it as a solve.

  7. Catherine Gardiner

The word, Davenport, is a rather retro term and was used, albeit rarely, during the 1950s & 1960s and has since pretty much disappeared from North American English. Sofa and couch are the terms used by most people.

  8. Grew up in the UK in the 50s and 60s but had never used the word Davenport.

Tried quiver and quaver and adventure that did not end up with the OA
