    1. I think that’s a singular answer? I mean one could go schwas, but I’m assuming AVOIRDUPOIS has to be the base here?

      1. I think it’s singular too, but maybe somebody will surprise us. I found some that Wiki accepted but they’re kind of sketchy, like siphovirus—scawd.

  1. Ha, I did it the other way around! SCHWA-AVOIRDUPOIS. I love that it’s reciprocal, so OA in reverse, rather like a chemical equilibrium equation. It didn’t take long, but was so frustrated by RAP at the bottom, which took away options like VORACIOUS, RAPACIOUS, VICARIOUS, etc.

    1. Well done!
I knew this was going to be hard one as soon as I saw the grid. The V and W really took away most of the options. Was frustrated that AVARICIOUS wasn’t possible. And I wasn’t going to get the OA in a million years, never heard of AVOIRDUPOIS before.

I’m just glad I threw in the towel early! 24/28

      1. As an afterthought to my earlier comment, I’ve realised that all my recent failures have fallen on Wednesdays. Coincidence? I’d better brace myself for the 4th of February!

        1. Radioactive Flower

Surrendered after two hours. I would not let set the puzzle overnight and solve in the morning because it makes sleeping difficult by always thinking of words in the background.

I knew there has to be SCHWA in the OA but my attemps to pair it was futile. And, it is my first time hearing the word AVOIRDUPOIS.

Today is the end of my winning streak. I failed to match or even surpass my previous record of 32-day winning streak.
