When the OA feels like not the OA
Exactly! As soon as I found FRAIL I saw LAZYBONES (the only other word I got before FRAIL was LAZIER so LAZYBONES was pretty self-evident. Sometimes I see options so clearly and immediately and sometimes I just dont!
LB defeated me today. The closest I came was
BRAZIERS FELONY which uses all the letters. But I had to connect them with SELF.
I also got BRAZIER/S and FELONY, and SELF. but not together. I got LAZY and LAZILY right away but never got Bones nor thought of LAZYBONES. Several 4w’s, hours later got a 3w which I ended up submitting: FRENZY YOB BASIL (14/3).
LAZYBONES—SERENIFY°

BRAZILIN°—NONSENSIFY°
FRAIL—LAZYBONES
AEROFOIL—LAZYBONES
FORESAIL—LAZYBONE(S)
correction: foresail—lazybones.

I cannot justify: foresail—lazybone(s).
Same here. Now I can’t get the Paul Robeson song out of my head!
OA.
Yup!
OA Today!
Frail-lazybones. Your take on some homeless people is all a matter of perspective.
Frail Lazybones
Super satisfying OA

OA was easy
OA nice and quick today
LAZYBONES?? Come on….
BRAZIER-REFLY-YONIS (17/3)
No clue what YONIS means but it got me a 3-solve.
Edit: YONIS is Hindu for vulva, as a symbol of divine procreative energy. The more you know!
Got stuck on BRAZIL, FLYBOY(S), BARFLY, BARFLIES
frail – lazybones
FRAIL — LAZYBONES
Found LAZY early on. Added BONES as a guess, and then couldn’t connect the S so I worked backwards on the L.
I also found BRONZIFY, which took care of the BZYF troublesome letters, but LB rejected it (it is in the OED).
Yeah, BRONZIFY was a double frustration because YEARLIES immediately pops out so plainly and cleanly you even think it’s the OA, that the OA will turn out to be BRONZIFY-YEARLIES, but not only does it reject BRONZIFY, but it also rejects YEARLIES. Now I know it takes DAILIES. I also know it takes WEEKLIES. But the corresponding word for annual periodicals, nope, which is ironic, given that LB is a puzzle of The New York Times, a periodical, even one that publishes several yearlies.
*Not WEEKLIES, obviously, since it has a double E, which is what I had orignally said, but then I got confused and screwed it up editing it. Sorry.
Yes, I finally found BRONZIFY–YEARLIES. Wasn’t going to let the odd gaps in LB’s wordlist deter me.
That’s a great, valid solve in my book!
Thanks. Affirmation provides solace.
Similar here. LAZYBONES looked too good not to be part of the solution, but took an embarrassingly long time to find FRAIL.
Aerofoil-Lazybones. Better TI off Frail-Lazybones. A self-fulfilling prophecy.
BARF FRENZIES SOLELY
and FLYBOYS SARAZINE*
*OED but archaic and obscure, derived from French. Hélas!
OA in less than a minute after finding LAZY right away
Tried 75 good words today including frail lazy lazily lazier bone bony bonier and never saw lazybones. Man this is a great game!
