The answers are:
AMPHIBIANSSNIFTER
AMPHIBIANS SIFTER
Same…
The recipe called for eye of newt.
Speaking of eye of newt…firebreathers-spaemen
Clever!
Wow, I really like Amphibians. 👍
Also got AMPHIBIANS SIFTER, after many hours…not sure I ever saw SNIFTER but did try SHIFT/ER… lots of other juicy big words too. Relieved to finally get a 2w’er after days of mostly 3w answers.
FEATHERBRAIN- NAPTIMES
I need a rest!
Good job! I banged my head against Featherbrain to no avail. 👍
FEATHERBRAIN – NAPTIMES
Amphibians
Snifter
I had the samepillow fight with featherbrain, finally gave up and settled for Mineshafts Sparerib and Fermata Amphibians. They took way too long to find and made way too little sense. Embarrassing, really.
Damn! Was looking FOREVER for a pair for FEATHERBRAIN! Ended with AMPHIBIANS & STARFISHES – movement in the water vs air in the brain 😉
Same! Took me a while to find NAPTIMES, but I didn’t want to give up on
FEATHERBRAIN.
FAMBRESIA — AMPHETAMINE
Also found BREATHARIANISM and AFTERMATHS but couldn’t link them.
Good one. Couldn’t find a match for methamphetamine. But came close with starbeam (no F).
Nice! For whatever reason, LB allows AMPHETAMINES, but does not take METHAMPHETAMINES. I guess there’s only one “Meth.” 🙂
Also FIMBRIA / AMPHETAMINES
AMPHIBIANS—STARFISHES
🐸☆
BENEFITS—SERAPHIM
👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻
Same here. Who can object to that??
Also SPATHE, which I hadn’t thought of for a while (not fond of arums), and LB accepted Empathise.
Same
Ditto, relatively quickly, too.
BENEFITS—SERAPHIM
Is what I got too.
Benefits — Seraphim, as well
Same!
MINESHAFTS—SPARERIB
Same here. A quick solve after a tough weekend.
Same here, but not a quick solve for me.
Me too!
same
AMPHIBIANS-SIFTER
Same. More efficient than OA by a Nose!
Ditto
panfishes – starbeam
Same
FEATHERBRAIN – NAPTIMES
AMPHIBIANS – SHAFTER
So many good ones today. I got stuck with BITMAPS before trying ANATHEMATISM which oddly made me see AMPHIBIANS and I got the OA.
Also AMPHIBIA* AFTERPAINS
Result of eating frogs legs.
FRAMBESIA-AMPHETAMINE
Amphibians —> Sifter
amphibians – strife
FERMATA AMPHIBIANS
and also the OA!
😎🐝🇺🇸

So, are the asterisked answers not in the Scrabble dictionary and, if so, are they not in both Scrabble US (TWL) and Scrabble UK (SOWPODS)? Is there one word authority for all LB play or is it a compilation of several word sources?
Hi. The words should all be in the scrabble dictionary.
I use this to check out a scrabble word:
https://scrabblewordfinder.org/dictionary/terefa
I use a Scrabble word list that contains most of the scrabble words. but most likely not ALL.
I don’t think Letter boxed from the nytimes site uses all the scrabble words. Some are from the Oxford English Dictionary. I don’t have a reliable word list for the Oxford English Dictionary.
I read all the words that the nytimes site uses for valid words. I find them in the source of the https://www.nytimes.com/puzzles/letter-boxed and look for “window.gameData = {” I take all characters up until the following “}” The Json group contains a dictionary sub group which is the official word list used for today’s puzzle. I also use the sides sub group. That dictionary list isn’t sorted alphabetically which makes me think they add various groups of words from various word lists.
