    1. Tell me (if you dare), did you find Amplify first and then have to look for Excreta? Or was it the other way round?

  1. Taxi Imperfectly. The pilot got stuck in the mud on the way to the runway!

Took longer to put the letters in than anything 🙂

      1. I came up with a similar answer – MAXI-IMPERFECTLY. Got this one done a heck of a lot faster than the last few days.

          1. Also found…
Expecter/Excepter, Climate, Climax, Primate, Primarily, Crimple, Prefix, Amplifier

    1. I got MAXI IMPERFECTLY, but I like TAXI better! Was glad to solve this in 2w very quickly today, after only getting 3w’s lately most days.

    2. Love the TI 👍 …
took me a long time to see IMPERFECTLY … i don’t know if it was mud on my windshield or just the TAXI in the way! 😎

  2. Bernie Horowitz

Another Taxi Imperfectly – my last flight, and I do mean last! (Axi and Maxi also work but Taxi has better TI.) Also Campfire Exactly – Smokey is watching.

  3. OA here too after attempting to find pairs for AMPLIFY, PERPLEXITY and FRACTILE* (not accepted by LB, seriously?)

    1. Bernie Horowitz

I too noted the mysterious rejection of Fractile. Not saying it would have been pairable, but still….

  4. OA. I was determined to get today’s after failing to find POMOGRANATE – oy vey! I feel vindicated 🙂 Plus, I’m a camping addict 🙂

  5. I’m reasonably new to letterboxed and this blog. Would someone mind explaining what the initialism “oa” stands for? Is it Obvious Answer?
    Thanks.

    1. Hello Allan,

OA = Official Answer. It’s the NYT 2-word solution for the day.
      PSW = Playable Scrabble Word
      word* = acceptable Scrabble word
word° = word is in the Oxford dictionary
      x/y = x letters in y words (example, today’s OA is a 15/2)

    2. Hey Allan!
Mark covered the basics of LB, including the letter count … sometimes players will strive to and brag about getting a better (lower) letter count than NYT’s OA (official answer). Or sometimes they’ll try to get the highest possible letter count by using two very long words.
The golden grail, i suppose, would be a 1/12 – all twelve of the puzzle letters used in a single word. I haven’t seen that yet, and i haven’t seen any one word answers that LB (Letter Boxed) has accepted yet. LB seems to be finicky and surprising in what it will or won’t accept as a word.
Davel is a player who usually reports the complete list of possible two-word solutions, usually a few hours before the end of the puzzle day which is 3am New York time … the blog time, i think, is on GMT or Universal Standard Time.

You will also see TI mentioned which stands for Thematic Integrity but is what i think of as the wittiest explanation for how the words in your answer relate to each other.

      Welcome to the blog!
      😎 McBee
