WAXEDDUMPLING
oa
Me too.
Same in 15 minutes after a week not playing
Same. I accept that some days, Letterboxed seems incomprehensible and I just cant vibe with it.
👍
UNWAXED / DUMPLING Much tastier
Indeed, Brian, indeed! But I settled for the inedible OA.
I had UNWAXED – DIMPLING
Started with DIMPLING, then when I saw UNWAXED and was tapping it in, I switched to UNWAXED – DUMPLING. Never occured to I could drop the UN~ until I saw the OA, which enviably is a 13/2. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Same for me.
A strange spa treatment.
OA after a tough weekend.

ARMADA!
Hey, our first-born STEPHIE,
Double thumbs up! 👍👍
🥳🎉 YAY!!! You got it! ARMADA, indeed! 🎉🥳

Hi RrrF
There was no defense against the mighty Spanish ARMADA.
Hey, Mr. LWMMM,
I love the sound of the word ARMADA when it is pronounced. ❤️ 💜.
Armada. Nice double entendre work there, Fleur!
❤️
missed the more efficient OA but got UNWAXED- DIMPLING
Same here
UNWAXED — DIMPLING
Same!
Same, with 5 minutes to spare before the witching hour.
Same.
UNWAXED – DIMPLING
TI: sounds like the beginnings of a woodworking project.
Sameish, got stuck trying to end a word with ed and then found dumpling STARTING from the other end, so had DEWAXED – DUMPLING
me too.
(DE)(UN)WAXED—DUMPLING OA
UNWAXED—DIMPLING
MWALIMU°—UNEXPUNGED°
°OED:
mwalimu, n. A teacher. Also as a title preceding a proper name, or as a form of address.
mwalimu,
Surprised to see Swahili in the OED. Is this a common occurrence? Is this used by native English speakers somewhere?
OA fairly fast. Bon appetit!
OA here
Waxed dumpling…
When the buffet starts running low…
“No! Don’t eat that! It’s for display only!”
😄
Best combo today!
I was surprised too. It was not in Merriam, but it is a PSW.
Meant as a reply to MVUA 9:22AM
PSW as well! That’s interesting. Swahili scrabble would have to change some tile amounts and values. Can one use any non-English words? How would one know what words and languages are PSW?
Here’s a link to a Kenyan article about the OED. (Tried to send it already) not sure if it’s gonna get through…
https://nation.africa/kenya/life-and-style/culture/nyama-choma-sambaza-collabo-added-to-oxford-dictionary-3880032
Interesting link on the topic.
The article says one of the East African words added to OED was “tarmac: to cover with tar macadam.” Did a double take on that.
Re tarmac OED says:
Additional sense (2022)
intransitive. East African. To walk the streets looking for work; to seek employment, to job hunt.
I like that.
This is a handy site for checking what is or is not a PSW:
https://scrabblewordfinder.org/dictionary-checker
Different editions of Scrabble use slightly different word lists. Mwalimu is on the UK/International Scrabble word list, but not the USA/Canada list. I treat any PSW as valid here.
FTR, I like UNWAXED – DUMPLINGS. 😉
OA after working on UNEXPLAINED and EXPLAINING for a while.
OA after a disastrous couple of days, which, of course, I’m blaming on jet lag, LOL. Hopefully this is a sign of better days ahead 🙂 Now I’m off to brush up on my Swahili! Good on you Mark – once again, giving me new words for my every-growing list.
Thanks Susan. 🙂 I think our vocabularies are enriched by this game. Of course the clever connections we find in the TI department are fun, but perhaps more lasting is that ever-growing list you mention. ☕
Waxed Dumpling
WAXED-DUMPLING
Got it in about one minute today!
OA. Quickly.
OA, fairly quickly, after a few attempts with unexplained, indexed, explaining, like that.
OA fastest ever, my very 2nd guess in a couple of minutes (first guess right away was 3w Waxing Glad Dumped, then tried Dumpling and saw Waxed was left over)
Got Unwaxed Dimpling too but after many tries using MUGWUMP.
I too tried my best with Mugwump, but to no avail. Also Expunged and Plunged…
