Sides of this Letter Box are:
AERUCTIYSVLQ
The answers are:
AQUAVITTRICYCLES
CLAVICLES-SQUIRTY
Me too. Botched surgery?
More efficient: CLAVES -SQUIRTY
Same
CLAVES-SQUIRTY as well. I knew that AUTOCLAVES is a word, but since the puzzle could not accommodate that, I took a stab at CLAVES and lo and behold it worked.
Claves Squirty here also.
Didn’t like it much, until I saw the OA.
My answer as well after failing to finish off qualitative.
EVALUATES SQUIRTY
missing the C
Where’s the C?
Same.
Same.
Not as fun, tho
clavicles – squirty
Same here.
Most efficient.
I did CAVALRIES and was pleasantly surprised about SQUIRT haha
Same.
I’m irritated that LB didn’t accept ECRUS as a word—it was literally a NYT crossword answer the day before yesterday!
Same here.
Found Cavalry Squirty early (the secret weapon that won the West) but then stumbled on Critiques Slsvey (the very definition of punching down!).
CAVALRIES – SQUIRTY
Same!
Same.
another CAVALRIES SQUIRTY here
similar CLAVES- SQUIRTY and yes CLAVES was just a play of letters that was accepted
Same. Found in 2 secs today remarkably! Was looking for ENCLAVES (no N) but CLAVES is accepted go figure
The Autoclave is the machine that we use to sterilize surgical instruments between procedures. So I actually used claves being pretty sure it would be accepted.
claves – squirty
Same, though I thought of Claves right away because Connections had primed me with “maracas”.
Word Play:
(7-) (7-letters):
(_ _ _ _in_) (_ _ _ _in_)
Clue: self-service store.
vending machine
Hey, PGGIE,
Vending Machine, indeed!
Hi RrrF
I missed it today. I wanted it to be SARI SARI store but not enough letters. :wink
Hey, LWMMM,
I’m surprised you know SARI SARI Store and my parents own one. It’s a Filipino word. How did you know it?
Oi RrrF,
My wife is a Filipina from a village in Batangas Province. We used to go there frequently when I worked in Asia but it’s been many years since our last visit. We live in Houston, Texas now. She doesn’t have a Sari Sari store here but she does have a small Filipino restaurant- catering shop that specializes in kakanin. Her turon, suman and pancit are especially popular.
LWMMM,
It’s nice to hear that you have a Filipino connection. I love all the foods you mentioned. PLUS lumpia, adobo, and palitaw.
Filipino wives are the best!

Aviatrices squatly
AVIATRICES is a great find, PG! My favourite so far. I had CAVALRIES – SQUATLY.
Hey DW – i ended up with CAVALRIES SQUATLY also, after failing with Equality and Elasticity along the way …
It took A while but I got
CAVALRIES-SQUIRTY
I trimmed it down to CLAVES-SQUIRTY
After LB accepted CLAVES I had to go find out what it meant: A percussion instrument consisting of a pair of short wooden sticks.
CAVALRIES — SEQUACITY
I couldn’t get SALICYLATES to work.
CRITIQUES – SUAVELY…
“Outstanding! That’s such a unique form incompetence!”
Nice one!
Damnit Mvua, I thought I had a unique answer! Same in less than 10 minutes. Was also close with: Cirques – Suavely (no T)
and Circlets – Suavely (no Q)
I can’t believe I missed this! Also missed OA by a sliver (thought it was AQUAVITE). Ended up with CLIQUIEST TRIVIALITY
Critiques Slavey
Really wanted qualitatively to work but couldn’t get there. Ended up with Claves -Squirty
Hadn’t heard of the OA… that’s taking DWI to a whole new level.
CRITIQUES-STATIVELY
An LB story.
The AVIATRICES—SQUATLY pounded the CLAVES—SQUIRTY and overcame their RIVALRIES—SEQUACITY.
With a QUALITATIVE—ESCRY, one of them CRITIQUES—SUAVELY the CIRQUE—ELASTIVITY of the AQUAVIT—TRICYCLES.
By doing so she removed all of the CLIQUIEST—TRIVIALITY.
The End

All solution words are at least in OED.

ACQUEST TRIVIALITY
Well done!
Hey guys, I’m new here and I was just wondering what OA meant because I kept seeing it being used everywhere. What a cool thread by the way! Thanks!
I had the same question – from context, it means Official Answer
Official Answer
Omg- I’ve been playing this whole time thinking it was optimal answer!
Sometimes the official answer (OA) will be the most efficient, but not always. A solution using more letters may surpass the OA with it’s thematic integrity (TI).
The ultimate holy grail is the elusive 12/1, a single word using all 12 letters just once. It has happened. The last I recall was LEXICOGRAPHY.
Cliquiest triviality
Now that’s a great letters-to-syllables ratio – 19:8
I tried to no avail to find a solution with ‘Acquit’. It’s rigged! The whole thing is rigged!
This made me laugh
“It’s all being run out of the Biden White House. The DOJ, the FBI, the Communists, the Fascists, the Marxists, they’re all in on it.”
Being half Swedish I got aquavit-tricycles
and also clavicles-squirty.
TRIVIALITIES SEQUACITY
I gave up today when neither of my two solutions were accepted despite being words. I had qualitative – escort and scrive – equality.
Escort? There’s no o in the puzzle today
RIVULETS–SEQUACITY
I tend to get stuck on a word that I want to work, and I have trouble seeing around it. Today it was EQUALITY. I tried SCRIVE, but it wasn’t accepted, so I ended up with a three-word solution
CATS-STRIVE-(for)EQUALITY
but they’ll never get it because dogs are far superior (let the flames begin LOL).
Similar for me, Rodney. Everything that looked promising failed. I couldn’t fit the C anywhere so I settled for
CLUE EQUALITIES SURVEY
RIVALS SEQUACITY has a political tone to it.
Gosh, a pretty-much unique solution with CRITIQUES-SLAVEY (first word shared with others
).
SCRIVE*-EQUALITY
Unique (so far)
calicivirus / sequacity
CRITIQUES SLAVEY
Evaluate the performance of someone you don’t pay who works really hard.
eventually got the OA, but on the way, I found QUALTRICS–SURVEY. I know the proper noun disqualifies it, but the TI was too good not to share.
