QUICKENER – RETHAW
This was my solution on my very first try and was stunned that, not only did the puzzle reject RETHAW, it isn’t even a PSW! I use the word all the time, usually prefaced by “Don’t.” I settled for WATERQUAKE* – ETHNIC.
Came here to also express my shock that neither RETHAW nor THAWER were accepted. That’s cold.

I just checked to see if REFREEZE is a PSW word. It is! Curiouser and curiouser . . .
I found this early on and it wouldn’t take RETHAW and I had to faff around for a while to find WATCHER REQUICKEN

Quickener – Rewatch. I also tried rethaw, but the word doesn’t really make sense and I’m not sure why…maybe because thaw is such a passive word whereas freeze or refreeze seems more active. I have a friend who says unthaw which is a mind bender–it tests the limits of our friendship :)))
