  1. Clowns Sequestrate/Sequestrator.

Inefficient but also easy so I no complain. Never having liked clowns that much I do like the TI.

    1. Same. Didn’t know either word. They were both guesses. Got it really pretty quickly after giving up on yesterday’s a few minutes ago. Spent ages on yesterday’s over today and yesterday and could only get a 3. Was keen to make MICROPIG work and I also found 2 new interesting words: PATRIARCHATE and MATRIARCHATE.

      1. Yes, the OA, but also, look at all these words I made up (all accepted):
        CLOWNS – SEQUESTRAL
        – extra toothy grins
        COWTOWNS – SQUEALER
        – cattle tattle
        RACQUETS – SONLAW
… Now, they’re just messing with us.

        1. I got the OA too. And, as someone else mentioned, quite speedily—in contrast to the considerable amount of time I spent trying (and failing) to find a solution for yesterday’s puzzle.

And seeing all the nonwords it accepted today makes me a bit miffed in light of all the valid words it rejected yesterday. 😜

        2. According to the OED, there are two historical records of “sonlaw,” meaning “son-in-law”: one in 1509 in S. Tymms, Wills & Inventories Bury St. Edmunds; and one in 2004 (!) in the Birmingham Evening Mail. And yet “crampy” and “dishware” are not accepted. So, yes, they are just messing with us.

  2. There were 100 2 word solutions today. Here are a few…

    13/2
    claques / strown
    conquest / trawl
    querants / scowl

    14/2
    conquest / talwar
    conquest / tulwar
    conquest / trawls
    croquets / sonlaw
    racquets / sonlaw
    querants / scowls

    15/2
    clowns / sequestra
    conquest / trawler
    conquests / salwar
    conquests / scrawl
    croquetas / sonlaw
    racquet / townlets
    tawa / alcornoques
    weta / alcornoques
    alcornoques / stew
    alcornoques / stow
    crownlets / squeal
    querants / scowler

    1. Davel, the challenge here is to use your own mind/brain power to find a solution, not to use an automated programme to post all of the possible answers. Please let those who enjoy and encompass that challenge to post their individual solutions/frustrations rather than post your list of automated solutions which add nothing to this community, save the knowledge that someone can supply all of the answers without any thought.

      1. I enjoyed making the software that gets the answers to the letter box puzzle. I also solve the puzzle before running the software. I don’t always get a two or three word solution, but it’s fun trying.

I’ll stop the posts. Unless I get feedback that people want it. Maybe I could post at the end of the day. Thanks.

        1. Glad to know you try to solve it first. To solve the puzzle feels like an accomplishment, but to create a program that does it for you—well, that’s just awesome! Sounds like a conquest that prevents unnecessary trawling. But do keep us posted on your own finds

        2. I would like to see your list at the end of the day. It does steal some of the joy of being the first to find a solution when the list is posted too early.

    1. Also Scowler Requestant. A bad tempered beggar?

I’m glad to see you made something with Request. I wondered about it myself before moving on to other possible solves. I’ve learned (I hope) not to become too attached to any one apparently possible solution…

  3. I too went with the longer CONQUEST-TRAWLER for better TI. I also noticed the CROQUET LAWNS and LACQUER TOWNS along the way, not to mention the WALRUSES and the COLESLAW.

    1. Nice find. I was happy to see the Lynx (a.k.a. the Snowcat). It’s the mascot of CU Denver. Although they resemble the common bobcat, it’s illegal to hunt the Lynx, as they’re a protected species here in Colorado. I attended an interesting talk on conservation efforts to protect them. They inhabit the high mountains, above cougar country, up to the tree line. 🏔️ 🐈

    CROWN—NATURALESQUE is my Fav today.

      1. No, it’s just that I’m letting them pass through. Awhile back when we started categorizing words that appear in the array, it was generally accepted to play fast and loose; at least in that niche of the game. 🙂

I also track (but not always post) Animals, Chemical Elements with their Symbols, Currencies, Colors with Hex values, and math and physics related terms.

Lately I like to search for anagrams, anadromes, and palindromes, listed in increasing rarity.

  5. Some Anagrams in today’s array:
    COELOSTATS : OSTEOCLAST
    SANTERO : TREASON
    QUESTER : REQUEST
    OESTRUS : TORUSES
    LOTUSES : SOLUTES
    ROQUET : TORQUE
    SUNSET : UNSETS
    OWLET : TOWEL

    And borrowing some PSWs:
    SEAWATER : TEAWARES*
    NURTURE : UNTRUER*

  6. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:
