        1. I’m also in the WHIPCORD-DEBUS club, and delighted to solve when I coudn’t yesterday-and grinning at the other options (celebrity childrens’ names indeed, Franzee2)

  1. Words Spicebush here. Lousy TI, but no worse in that department than the OA, and much more efficient. Gave up on Birdhouses too soon; the pairing with Showpiece is delightful! Isn’t it already one of those DIY shows?
With Birds sitting right there, I trust DW will be inspired. Sadly, Bishopbird was not accepted.
(I feel I should mention that Birds Aren’t Real. I neglected to take the last few opportunities to do so.)

    1. Sadly, Bernie, (some) birds truly aren’t real: e.g., Bishopbird. The Bishop, however, is a real bird; there are nine species.

Quite the ornithological bounty yesterday and today! Much to my surprise, my first two solutions were not accepted either by LB or by Scrabble: BUSHBIRDS – SHOWPIECE and RUSHBIRDS – SHOWPIECE. They are legitimate birds, though, so I think someone needs to have a talk with the Scrabble authorities. WHIPBIRDS – SOURCE, on the other hand, gets the old nihil obstat.

In case anyone missed Jill’s bird-themed poem yesterday, I encourage having a look. Masterful as always!

      Today’s complete list:

🐦 BISHOP, BOUBOU, BRUBRU, BUSHBIRD, HOUSE CROW, PIED CROW, IBIS, PHOEBE, PIPIPI, RUSHBIRD, WHIPBIRD 🐦🐦 HOOPOE, IIWI, SCRUBBIRD

  2. Dewdrops Spicebush.

I like it in a kooky hippie kind of way and if I were a Hollywood celebrity space cadet Dewdrops Spicebush would be the name of my next child 🙂

  3. Tried and failed today, despite a lot of good leads: the aforementioned BIRDHOUSE, also EUPHORIC, HORSEWHIP… In other news, I am so uninspired by CONNECTIONS, it really feels as though they have run out of steam. Please bring back DIGITS!

    1. Connections is interesting because my reaction is either Pfft! or What?!? One or the other and I never know which it will be.

    2. Was there a particular color that annoyed you the most in connections today? There was one word that I didn’t know the meaning of but I guessed correctly.

Even when i guess all of the answers I somehow don’t feel successful. Also, when you don’t get the last one but give up and still “solve” I find equally annoying.

Letter boxed and Wordle are the best.

      1. All of them, but Wonder Woman’s attire was particularly vacuous! Also (a few days ago), how is CAN a ‘conditional verb’?! 🧐🤨 (MAY, MIGHT, CAN, COULD, if I’m not mistaken.) It’s just codswallop, as my eight-year-old would say.

  4. I got it right off. So satisfying.

Well not right off. The first word I saw was overshadow, which isn’t actually there.

  5. Rosebuds-showpieces. I actually found show prices right away but rosebuds alluded me foe some time. I was trying for words that started with sub with no luck.

  6. Minimal Triples (14/3):
    BUS—SEW—WHIPCORD
    CROWD—DEBUS—SHIP
    PHOBIC—CRUDS—SEW
    PHOBICS—SURD—DEW
    PICS—SHOWED—DRUB
    WHO—OPUS—SCRIBED

    and within the PSW domain:
    COWPIE—EDS—SHRUB

  7. Surprised not to see the variation WHIPCORDS SUBDUE (nice thematically) Was also all over the OA but somehow could not put them all together. Palm slap for crowdsourced

  8. OA here. Usually don’t post if I only end up getting the OA, but this one was a doozy for me. Took several attempts throughout the day.
