The answers are:
COLORFULLIGHTEN
CONFLICT TROUGHER
Oh, and had actually submitted
COLORFUL-LENGTHIER as answer; not UK spelling as written by me above on auto-pilot.
Same
configure-enlight
Future – ethnologic
Frighten-neuroligic
Horticulture engulf
Us too! 🙂
FRENETIC-CLOUGH
the OA is so much more joyful
Your solution reminds me of a very energetic Middlesbrough striker in the 1950s. Joyful memories!
FRENETIC-CLOUGH here, too. I also found REFLUCTION-NOUGHT, but REFLUCTION sounded dodgy.
FRENETIC – CLOUGH here too after a LOT of searching. Missed -FUL as a suffix, noodled with CULTURE but didn’t find HORTICULTURE, LOGIC but not NEUROLOGIC, etc. Oh well, ALIOW!
Congrats on all the great finds today!
COLOURFUL-LENGTHIER
My second word sadly apt when compared with the OA’s second.
My thoughts exactly after i saw the official.
The garden is running rampant:
HORTICULTURE – ENGULF
Me too! Thought I was going to be original for once maybe next time…
Me too
Same here! 🙂
OA fairly quickly
Lifelong Gutcher. This seems like a logical and temporal impossibility (based on the only seemly definition I can find), outside one of those “I’m my own Grandpa” scenarios….
Today’s array looks very promising – can’t wait to see what the LB Mavens come up with!
Also, Flightier Ruction, a less meaningful kerfuffle.
Same. Although firelighter-ruction was also accepted.
A falling-out among arsonists….
COLORFUL – LIGHTEN
These summer nights as the fireflies reflect the meteor showers.
A rather uninspiring CORNFLOUR – RIGHTEN
OA, first in a while. And it’s a cheery one 🙂
Trying to get to Heaven in a hurry…
FRENETIC CHURCHGOER
This is excellent!
hands-down winner, here!
Love it!
My favorite answer too!
This is superb, but is missing L.
lol adds 2
FRIGHTEN NEUROLOGIC.
Something relating to shock therapy perhaps.
Yes, this relates to one of my solutions:
FRIGHTEN–NOCTULE (a noctule is a kind of bat)
I’d noticed LOGIC, and can’t believe I didn’t see that I could use the NEURO– prefix.
My other was FRENETIC–CLOUGH. Not really sure that I’d ever come across ‘clough,’ but there you go. I was just throwing things at the wall, seeing what stuck.
Nice OA today. And of course, FRENETIC–CHURCHGOER takes the cake in my book. Apt description of Sunday morning traffic!
LOL, Peter
Got the OA after finally deciding ‘ful’ might be the key. 🙂
Mind you I spelt Colourful the correct way. 🤣
It looks like there’s an extra letter in there.
😉 👍
CONFUTE – ENLIGHTENER
When you’re too smart for your own guru?
CONFLICT (THEURGIC) – A fight between wizards
I just saw your solution. Nice!
As a symmetric pair, it can be played in either order:
THEURGIC ⇄ CONFLICT
CONFLICT ⇄ THEURGIC
Configure Ethnologic. Anthropology 101?
Flightier Ruction
COUGHER-REFLUCTION with apologies for the horrid image. The OA and those frenetic churchgoers are much better solutions!
Am I the only one with LITHIC—CONFIGURE? Must have something to do with Stone Henge.
Also, am I missing something? Why does my comment clock in at 2:42 PM?
It’s based on UTC. It can be confusing sometime. I always subtract 6 to get MDT for me.
I hit upon this as well. Also ETHNOLOGIC – CURF. The puzzle did not accept the latter, but it is a PSW.
Me too.
I got that, too!
Some great solutions posted today!
I’ll add a symmetric pair I found which taught me a new word.
=================
THEURGIC ⇄ CONFLICT
CONFLICT ⇄ THEURGIC

Clash of the Titans?

CONFLUENT / TIGHTER
grouchier – refluent
Had words I couldn’t match then became Grouchier-Refluent
CORNET THUGLIFE (alas of course not accepted) the long awaited Bix Biederbecke biopic
long awaited and highly alliterative!
Frighten Noctule
Chiming in late with Confiture-Enlighten…
The dull and overlong Colourful Lengthier.
Really wanted something with Horticulture but didn’t see it.
Grouchier -> refluction
