      1. This was my solution, too. Found WORMFISH purely by noodling, as the instructions recommend. It was all over so quickly, I can’t tell if I feel guilty (getting away with one, using a word I didn’t even know), or cheated from a fuller ‘more enriching’ experience!

Anyway, as the kids say: “ALIOW.”

    1. Same. but for me it felt sorta contrived, cause I knew of no such creature, or in what capacity a handkerchief would be useful to them underwater.

    1. ooo good one. I was looking something to partner SHRINK but couldn’t come up with anything – and when I found FRAMEWORK(S) ended up going for OA instead

      1. I tried ENFORM – MAWKISH too, then found ENSIFORM – MAWKISH.
ENSIFORM apparently means ‘sword shaped’ in botanical circles.

  1. Frameworks Shrine. Don’t like it but it’ll do. Shrine actually took a while.

Must get more than 3 hours sleep tonight. It might help 🙂

  2. Got the OA surprised that my totally random try at knish with the remaining letters worked! Had no idea what it meant – they look good though!

    1. They are good! In my day, on the Brooklyn beach called Coney Island, knishes would be hawked in a singsong “Hot knishes. Get your hot knishes!”

  3. OA. Originally had FRAMEWORKS – SHRINE, but wanted to see if FRAMEWORK – KINKISH would work (it didn’t). That led to a “Hey, isn’t a Knish a thing?” moment. 🤷‍♂️

  4. They are good! In my day, on the Brooklyn beach called Coney Island, knishes would be hawked in a singsong “Hot knishes. Get your hot knishes!”

  5. POTATO KNISH
(abridged version, from my grandmother’s old recipe)
    1. Make a simple puff pastry dough, using schmaltz and butter in equal amounts.
    Roll thin.
    2. Make a filling of mashed potatoes, onions sautéed in schmaltz, a bit of grated carrot, plenty of chopped gribenes, salt and pepper.
    3. Place a scoop of filling in the center of a square of pastry (about 5″ x 5″), and wrap into a round little “package”, and seal with egg wash.
    4. Brush with schmaltz, bake at 375* until golden brown. Serve hot.

  6. Speaking of Frameworks to work off, NYT Connections was really pushing it today imho. Too many possible groupings. Fun though. 😄

    1. Alicia, I had this problem when ‘in Moderation’ forever while waiting to get the go-ahead to post. You seem okay now! 🙂
