Sides of this Letter Box are:
ICPYUNERSQTB
The answers are:
BISQUEENCRYPT
ENCRYPTS SQUIB
Same: satire cipher.
Sorry, I just don’t have any magic to do better.
You get the spell right every time, MVUA!
ENCRYPTS – SQUIB here, as well (kind of a damp squib this one, for the speed at which I spotted the solution).
LBF score: 13 (6/12 letters rightly guessed). Next:
GPO AWE NTH IRS.
Same. Took forever even after I found encrypts.
5.15.23 : ICP—YUN—ERS—QTB
Pairs:
BISQUE—ENCRYPT
ENCRYPTS—SQUIB
Atoms: TIN ₅₀Sn
Greek: PSI ψ Ψ
Currencies: BIRR, BUTUT, CENT, EYRIR, RUPEE, TETRI, TIYIN, YEN
Colors: BISQUE #FFE4C4, ECRU #C2B280, PUCE #CC8899, RUBY #E0115F, RUST #B7410E
It turns out that BISQUE, part of the OA, is also a color. And ECRU shows up two days straight. 🙂
Bisque-Encrypt(s) needs the S. 🙂
As does ENCRYPTS – SQUIB(S).
Thought for sure you were going to flag QUBYTE, Mark — a PSW, even if the puzzle doesn’t accept it. The NYT needs to get with the times. (I’m here all week!)
Good eyes, DW! My program did find QUBYTE and QUBIT; but only the latter was accepted in LB, so maybe NYT is getting there, slowly.
By the way, since I’ve appreciated your interest previously, the program is called Smith, as in “Agent Smith” from The Matrix, a likable antagonist for me. I’m starting to redirect Smith towards online Scrabble, which is a seemingly major step up in complexity. Same principles though, but more dimensions.
ENCRYPT! Gah. Just too fiendish for me today. Fell down various rabbit holes with BRUSQUE, CRITIQUE, ENQUIRY, UBIQUITY, CRUSTY, EQUITY.
EQUITY SPRUCE SQUINTY QUIETS QUIETY were all I got 😛
ENCRYPTS – SQUIB. Efficient + TI: coded snark is what I see, too, MVUA.
Included in BISQUE, no?
(to JUDY, 11:10 AM).
Quite right! I miscounted as 12/2 and knew that couldn’t work with a letter repeat. My bad!
Aaaaand … we’re back to constrained solution sets. Yesterday was like a day pass from prison. Anyway, ENCRYPTS – SQUIB here.
Not much in the 🐦 department: TIT, NENE, STINT.
BISQUE – ENCRYPT OA here! Fun return to playing this after a short hiatus. Did most others get the alternative Squib answer?
Welcome back Tim. I found encrypt(s) first and the saw both bisque and squib at same time more or less as they make a chain i just wish i knew what that milky soup was trying to communicate
Encrypts squib
Took longer than normal considering that it is a Q word
Same. Toyed with BRIQUET(S) too long.
